Phases of Friendship

As a young man and recently turning 18 I'm about to embark on a journey to college and begin my adult life. One thing I'm noticing that is somewhat disheartening is the fact I seem to be growing apart from a good majority of my friends and or better aquaintances.

I'm just curious as a guy who isn't too wise, is this normal to gradually grow apart from your buds as you hit 18, etc.? Is it just a normal divergence of interests? Or is unhealthy as by this age you should have some solid bonds.

If you are growing as a man, it is quite natural to go through stages where you change your circle of friends. Usually happens as you leave H/S (as in your case), then again as you become more successful, and possibly at times in between. Don't worry too much about it. Things like this have a way of working themselves out.

I absolutely agree with str8up,but there is a later development when all your old mates are very close again as you try and recreate those far off halcyon days of your youth.....

As you develope yourself financially, socially, emotionally, etc you may have to drop people off or pay less attention to them. It becomes easier and quicker when you really reach that stage of maturity because you cut through the BS or only choose to deal with certain individuals on special circumstances.
