What do you guys think of them? im still in highschool, and personally, i like wearing nice cloths, more specifically shirts. other than shirts, i dont see the difference between jeans and especially shoes.

What do you guys think of payless shoes? they have van slip on look alikes, and even chuck allstar look alikes. would you guys buy these? im starting to consider them because i end up wearing up all my shoes within a few months and im tired of spending $50++ on them.

*Shakes head* You are obviously not into "nice" clothing if you think this is a serious question. Go to Aldo, Town Shoes, Browns any store like that and get something there.

Please, do us and yourself a favor and don't buy shoes from there. Unless money is a problem, which it could very easily and understandably be, just buy a good pair of shoes. I would definitely recommend Nike or Puma. I'm not a fan of Reebok or Adidas and certainly not a fan of Vans or Converse.

If you need some specific examples I would gladly help, just be a little more specific in what you want. :)

honestly, payless has shoes that are the same price as mejiers and kohls and the occasional sale at footlocker.
i just went to payless tonight because my son needed a pair of running shoes for cross country running. got him a pair of champions for 30 bucks.
champions are good athletic shoes, maybe not the best but they are a reliable brand name shoe from my era and they looked pretty stylish for this day in age.
i think the price would have been the same on them no matter which store they came from.
payless had a sale today where when i bought those shoes for him, i got a second pair half price.
(they have that same sale at footlocker now and then)

i wouldn't mind examples. what go good with jeans and cargo shorts?
Depends on the color of jeans/shorts but more importantly the shirt. If you have a neutral colored shirt (black, white, grey, etc) you could match your belt with your shoes.

Here are some examples of what "I" like:

Keep in mind, those are just example of what "I" like. You should wear whatever YOU like and whatever YOU feel comfortable in. I personally, think Pumas are a bit more classy but that's just me.

You should just go to foot locker and look around, they have a decent selection. If you want to save some money, don't buy on the spot, go home and browse around online for the same shoe, you can find it a little cheaper than in the store.

Honestly, these are all terrible opionions. But EVERYBODY has a different taste in shoes. What ever YOU think looks good, and is comfortable, go with that. Stop worrying about what others think about you, that is not helping with your self confidence, self esteem.

Ok, I know it sucks to pay a lot for shoes, but it can really be worth it. I bought two pairs of 310 Motoring Prestwood's, one in black, one in white, and they are really, really sick. I get complemented for them all the time.

Unfortunately, I think 310 has discontinued the Prestwood line. But They have good shoes most of the time. Look them up on Zappos.

Thank you.

I don't understand this site sometimes. Sure looking nice is pretty important, but this is ridiculous. Don't want to wear expensive shoes? Then don't. It might just be I'm not as rich as you guys, but I think 50+ is a hella lot of money. Shoes are definitely not that important to me.

You do have to remember that most people look at your shoes, or sometimes your watch, and base their first opinion on that. Thats what I've learned.

then they are a$$holes and you dont need them anyways!
the brand name of your clothing is not what matters.
the only thing about your clothing or appearance that should matter to anyone is the cleanliness of them (let's all be sanitary:)

Agreed.

We aren't interviewing for a job here. If that were the case, then yes, dressing nice would be crucial. By all means, spend a lot of money to impress the employer then.

We're just in high school. I know many people are superficial and shallow there, but eff them. Don't try to impress these people. It's pointless. As long as you're happy, what else matters?

i don't make people turn around and show me the brand name tag on their pants when they apply for a job.
i think as long as your clothes are clean, free of holes and that you tuck your shirt in is fine.
that's really all employers think about.
we don't really care what brand name your clothes are or how much you paid for them. honest.

Most people it's not they're shallow, and superficial, its that name brand clothing is THAT much better. It fits better, and the material is obviously better. Trust me, some broad isn't going to think of you the same if you wearing some crappy AE button up and a sloppy improper fitting pants with bad looking shoes. But if your wearing a well FITTED shirt, the proper size and CUT of jeans and a dec pair of shoes, it will be a different story. Honestly just make sure you buy the right cut of jeans for your body type. Your tall and skinny, get a straight/slim cut. If you have a bigger build go for relax/bootcut.

You have to remember he's in high school. Most high school kids ARE that superficial and shallow. While it's true that higher-end clothing often does fit better and is made better that isn't always the case, especially the brands that high school kids think of as high-end.

To the OP, personally I would suggest spending a bit more on shoes. Shoes tend to be one of those things where you get what you pay for, whether that be quality, comfort, style, or durability.

However, shop within your means. Bankrupting yourself to look "stylish" doesn't make you cool, just a try-hard....and no one likes those. Wear what you can afford, the money you save will come in much more handy later, trust me. This definately applies if you have a tendency to quickly tear-up shoes. The most important thing is to have clean, well-fitting outfits that follow basic style (they match, etc.) and aren't too dated. I'd say if money is tight go for classic looks, but classics often look out-of-place at your age.

Just beware that the cheaper shoes may tear-up even faster, but if that's what you can afford and they look good go for it. As long as you feel good about how you look you'll look good

ok..i just went to the payless site..and the shoes aren't that bad..if i saw a guy in some of those shoes, i would never guess

and the bigger point..DON'T SEEK VALIDATION FROM OTHERS. You need SELF-confidence. It's needs to come from you so you must validate/accept yourself. If a girl/guy does not want to talk to you because you get your shoes at payless, you're better off without that type of person.

You don't need superficial materialistic little children in your life, especially in hs because you're supposed to be MATURING.

get those damn payless shoes.
