Hey guys, first off I know this is an attraction forum but the people on here give the best advice so im just gonna ask.

I broke up with my GF recently and i'm cool with that but now I plan on getting out there to parties and stuff at school. My Freshman year of college I went out a lot and never got in trouble, but this year it seems like police are cracking down alot more on underage drinking. Its the biggest social thing to do so I think I have to do it. Another thing is I am an Education Major so if i get caught i'm f**k'd out of my major. The parties are the main places to pick up girls and I don't want to waste a whole year siting in my apartment twitiling my thumbs.

Whould you guys risk it?
What would you do if cops came to a party?
What would u say if you were being arrested to get out of trouble?

You have spent a semester there already and got to know some people. Therefore you should probably have a good idea on how cops deal with underage drinking in your particular college

Every college is different, but i have never heard of being arrested for being at a party. What do you plan to do there - drink beer. Put the beer down when u hear the cops. simple as that.

Just to put this into perspective i used to be at Brandeis (near Boston, MA), at some house party. I was like 18-19. Cops came into the house, started kicking people out...i was drinking my beer and i feel someone tap me on the shoulder saying "buddy you have to leave", i turn around its a cop! Im like, yes sir, not a problem, FINISH drinking that beer and walk out LOL.

In conclusion: dont worry.

In my years at college, the only time I ever saw drinking tickets given out were dumb people (walking down the road with a beer) or during rush week at the fraternity houses. If cops bust up a party, I never saw them card everyone on the way out. As mentioned above, just don't be dumb about it; if a cop comes, conveniently put your drink down somewhere.

At my school (Northern Illinois) cops were pretty cool at house parties, as long as the tenants were cooperative. A little different story if you were at a bar, but in those cases, the owners got in a lot more trouble than you do. Also, stuff like tailgating at football games was pretty much free game; everyone's drinking and the cops are all over, but it's more for security purposes.

Long story short, don't worry about it.

Whatever state your in, make sure there isn't a law against underaged constructive possesion. It means you'll get in trouble for being around underaged drinking if you are under 21.

When I was in college, I was in the dorms with other kids were drinking, and everyone got a citation, myself included. Here is the kicker, I hadn't been drinking at all. I blew a .00 on the breathalizer, but I was still fined due to the constructive possesion laws.

I'd look into it just to check if these laws apply to where you are. They probably don't. Being at school, you probably would have heard about it by now. Just make sure and be careful.

Also, if your college is located in an area where the city is in debt, be extra careful. The cops will break up parties more often and hand out more fines. I speak from experience.

What are they gonna do; give out a bunch of MIP's to every underage drinker? The cops will just stop the party and maybe get a few kids in trouble. There are other ways to meet girls too besides at a party.

I drank at parties since I was 16, and many of them have been busted. Like everybody else said, just put your beer down if the cops are coming in. Usually if there are underage people there the host (if they're smart) will just tell everybody to stay inside until they leave.

Be damn careful about driving though...my roommate (he's 20) got a DUI for having one 3.2% watered down Oklahoma beer. Anything over .02 BAC is enough for a DUI in my state if you're under 21.
