Party situation

I was at a party last weekend and there were plenty of girls whom I didn't know. Being that it was my first party where I didn't know any of the girls, and most of the people attending, I kept a little reserved. Yeah I know But I'll do better next time!!

Anyway, the problem that I was faced with was being asked the obvious and stupid "What's your name" line also because it was misused on me once by some drunken chick who wanted to play me.

I wanted to get some opinions on how to anser such a question when you know that the chick is asking out of boredom and has absolutely no interest in you. All of what I came up with was stupid, and I always ended up telling them my name.

My friend suggested saying "Bond...James Bond"

Maybe you can do better. I sure can't, or won't at this point.

Please don't use that.. And I am a big bond fan... but unless you look like a bond man and can really and I mean really carry it off then don't.. Please.. I would just pause for a bit.. if she is really annoying pretend you didn't hear her and say, excuse me and walk over to someone else or another group.. I wouldn't let it get to you.. Just because someone asks you a question doesn't mean you have to answer it.. And why get mad over such a silly ?. I say, pause,,, smile at her... but not AFC.. mysterious and just say hmmmmm...No, but you can tell me yours.. I don't know but definately NOT the bond thing...

Good luck.. Hey, at least you are going to parties.. Think positively! And being low key is not a bad thing. In can work in your favor.. So, I bet you did great. Next time just plan on getting at least 3 new numbers while you are there so you have something to work with

why are you thinking that this girl only wants to talk to you because she is bored? dont you think that this girl might have interest in you?

Go with a friend the next time you go out. Go with many friends. It will give you some social proof. And make an encounter with girl wheter you bumped into each other or filled her class as an opening for you to talk with her.

Try imaging different scenerios that could happen when you up open your mouth to her. Chance favors the prepared mind!

Oscar, yes I know, but I was looking for something else that was better. I could have even pulled it if I thought of it at that time.

Tamales, you're as always right on the money. I never used the James Bond thing, but thought of using it so good thing for you to bounce me off of that. Yes, definitely a good thing to go at parties and now I'm armed with some good knowledge. Getting at least three numbers isn't a bad thing. Thanks!!

killerasp, yes the James Bond thing was a stupid idea, I realize that, but I knew tha on one occasion the girl just wanted to boost her self-eSTEAM so I walked away but didn't answer good enough. On another occasion I just didn't see how she could have been interested in me for anything more than a dance.

So all, in all good replies and some good lessons learned. I have to attempt using the "hhmmmm...No....but tell me yours" line. Thanks peeps.

IMO, parties where you don't know the girls are to me, the best situation. Maybe thats because of my rep at my school but I think a girl with a blank slate when it comes to knowing about you is the best. If you're not sure about her, ask a friend who does know her to give you the lowdown like if she's dating someone, a bytch, not wanting to give it up until marriage, etc.

Yea i get fed up with just being boring and telling them my real name, i usually reply with a name like eugene or eggbert or something silly like that,

Why would you tell a girl a fake name? Is it funny or something? I dont really get using a fake name...especially if things start to click..she calls you by your fake name all the time which would get confusing..

I do understand the clean slate thing..and by all means...make up some funny **** about what you do or whatever..but IMO, the part about using a different name is retarded.

Actually, I have used something like this before - something along the lines of:

HB : "What's your name?"
Meh: "Me? I'm Eggbert!"
HB : "No, c'mon, your name isn't Eggbert"
Meh: "What, you don't think I look like an Eggbert? What do I look like?"
.
.
.

Can work, gotta pick a funny name tho.
