when muscle is burned off instead of fat then it's normally the fault of a ****ty diet and not of too much cardio.

Depends on genetics/metabolism/DIET as Double said.

Do not attempt any cardio without eating a protein-only meal first - egg whites, whey, BCAAs or glutamine - the latter being my favourite since it's virtually calorie-free and cheaper than BCAAs (second favourite).

LOL .. just one meal mate, not all of them.

5g (a heaped teaspoon) of glutamine in water will suffice.

hey alex.... if you're doin low intensity cardio in the morning, do you still pop somethign before hand??

For example, this morning, i popped a glass of green tea, then went walking. Brisk, from my house to the gym (15 mins) and then on the treadmill, 3.5 mph at 8 incline (15 mins) almost puked, then walked back... (15 mins) and almost puked again on the way back.

Had my bfast about 30 mins after the last walk...

It doesn't matter how good-looking you are, how romantic you are, how funny you are... or anything else. If she doesn't have something INVESTED in you and the relationship, preferably quite a LOT invested, she'll dump you, without even the slightest hesitation, as soon as someone a little more "interesting" comes along.

I do cardio like - 3 times a week (heavy) gym - maybe twice - does too much cardio burn off muscle instead of fat?

Thanks

depends upon your phenotype...your diet is secondary. protein before hand will do little or nothing to prevent you from burning muscle. your body adapts to how much cardio you do. bcaas and glutamine are a waste of money. but its pocketbook.

one should only do cardio for heart health not fat burning-use full body training to burn fat.

Almost puked mate? That incline might've been a bit steep?

I do cardio (40-45 minutes walk around the neighbourhood) on two cups of green tea and a teaspoon of glutamine - green tea being the thermogenic and glutamine for muscle protection, at low intensity that should be adequate - I don't like whey or egg whites pre-cardio because they're basically calories to burn off (they'll be oxidised for fuel), even though they do a perfectly good job of keep your muscle.

heheh... yeah, i gotta get into the cardio routine. I'm not used to it, and i'm always feeling like it's not enough if I don't break a sweat and such. The gym was stuffy tho, i think that was why i felt a little queasy.

I was good though at the end.

Alright, let's have some evidence to back this up..

The only thing I agree with is the cardio adaption, hence weight-loss plateaus and the like.

Protein beforehand WILL help preserve muscle - can you point me to some evidence that it won't? (You may have a case in that if you're an overweight 220lber then you don't need to worry about losing muscle for a while, hence BCAAs or glutamine are possibly unnecessary - I'm talking about middle-of-the-road individuals with some muscle and some fat)

But glutamine being a waste of money? Sorry mate, have to disagree strongly here. For recovery purposes it's ace - you won't need it for traditional 3- or 4-day splits perhaps, but for anything more intense, don't leave home without it.

Men frequently err by talking too much. They often monopolize conversations, droning on and on about topics that bore women to tears. They think they're impressing the women when, in reality, they're depressing the women.

You can overdo cardio mate. Take it slow and steady. Do cardio on your offdays at first, monitor this over say two weeks, then added more/longer sessions if necessary.

But an 8 incline is far too much for light cardio!

Keep cardio low intensity and under 30mins in the morning on an empty stomach. Your body will burn more fat than would normally be the case.
