Any tips on sending that first message to get a response? I've had profiles up on okcupid and pof for a while but other than window shopping and getting alot of homely looking women sending me messages I don't do too much on them. How about advice on nailing down that first meeting? In the handful of times that I've talked to girls on there they seem really gaurded about meeting in person and I've had female friends tell me that they find it creepy if a guy tries to set up a meeting quickly.

Also is it worth it to sign up for something like match vs the free ones? I'm thinking the girls who would pay are probably more serious. I've been so busy working two jobs and finishing my mba but I'm finally at a point where I've got my career on path so I need to get out there more and I think this is a good place to start.

I've ony used OKCupid.

I always send some kind of funny/flirtatious first line based on their profile, then skip a line, and say:

'Sup? I think you're cute, let's get to know each other.

ARrocket'

Couple messages back and forth. 'So, are you a [insert city here] girl?' 'What kind of trouble do you get into around here?' 'How's the site treating you so far?'

They usually ask how the site is treating me, and then I say something like:

"I just joined last week...some creepy girl dressed in all black keeps messaging me! Since neither of us think they should change the name to 'AwesomeCupid' let's exchange numbers so we can text instead, I'm at XXX-XXX-XXXX"

Then after a bit of texting, suggest a meet-up.
