One of those comments that sting...

I got a invite from an old friend to go out drinking with her since she was in my part of town for the night; I met her about a year and a half ago through a mutual friend, and we got along well because she's my type: crazy. It was a hell of a bar crawl, involving dancing (which I almost NEVER do), going to my favorite bar ("Cheers" as I call it, a local sports bar), as well as going to a very questionable club for late-late night. It's around 4-5am and time to go home (the late-late night club was literally across the street from my place, which was convenient), but her roommate literally grabs me and throws me in the cab to hang out at their place some more, which I obliged, I was having a lot of fun. They had a hookah at their place and I said I'd never tried one, so we smoked it.

Anyway, the girl said a comment which kind of stung...she said I was a snob. I understand that we both might have somewhat of a stigma because I live in the "yuppy" part of town, currently getting an MBA and have a good job/condo/car/etc., and she lives in a little bit of a sketchy neighborhood and doesn't make as much money, but I always try to kill that image, because it is a little prevalent here, and I hate it. When she said that, my response was, "Really...why? I'd like to hear it." And she replied, "Nevermind...I can't back that up."

Perhaps I'm looking a little too into that, but I had felt at that point that we had built pretty good chemistry, she was dancing pretty hard on me and we were messing with each other all night, it was fun. But that comment really killed it for me. In hindsight now, I don't know what to think. It was 5:00am and we were both drunk and tired, but she obviously said it for a reason.

I'm hoping it's one of those comments that she just wished she didn't say because that's the impression she has of people that live in the yuppy part of town. We made a deal that I'll teach her to play the guitar and she'll teach me how to speak spanish, so I'll be seeing her more often hopefully. Those Mexican girls are freaking hot.

Any thoughts?

Get used to those comments mate, when one lifts himself up over the masses and achieves something, then the masses will try all they can to bring him down to their level.

I don't care how you got where you did but people are going to look at you and just come up with a simple stereotype, its harsh at the top of the mountain get used to the hatred.

Also no matter how hot this girl maybe stay away from her she may have a very evil view of you. But then again tapping it might not hurt :)

you make her feel less than. She has to bring you down man. She feels she can't compete with yuppie girls or you are just using the low class girl for sex. Or maybe the truth slipped out and she may just be scheming on you, (see the mature man threads about paying for sex and women thinking they are entitled to your money).

Regardless she feels that you feel you are better than her. Which probably both attracts and repels her. She'll be looking for any chink in your armor to bring you down so she can say "see yuppie guys are all ____" and make her self feel good when you eventually leave her for someone better.

personally I would leave her for a girl on your same level. A negative view like that is posionous and will seep into your life.

Girls, and people in general, do this all the time when they feel inferior to some one, or when their first impression turns out to be wrong. People hate being wrong about an impression and also hate liking some one they view as better than themselves. Often they will do whatever they can to avoid liking someone in such a circumstance, or to try to prove the stereotype right after all. That sounds like the situation here. If your serious about this girl, keep doing what your doing, but try to raise her report as well. Follow any DHV's of your own with some for her. You want to maintain your Alpha status, but if she really thinks your that much better than her, you won't get anywhwere, so lessen that gap a little. Keep up the good work though.
