Ok, I have just started reading the book of Pook which I should have read a while back considering I was curious about all the hype surrounding him. So, I've finally started reading and my it is fantastic. It is very different in its style. It almost reads like a kids book written for an adult... scripty, poetry, witty, humorous and is deeply insightful all wrapped into one. I can imagine it being made into an actual movie> I think it will make for a great movie with a narrative. Imagine the voice of James Earl Jones as the narrator. If you are new here and haven't read it yet. I would encourage you to take a look at it before going deeper into what brought you to this forum. I think a lot of people who first come here are looking for quick fix answers to a current situation. By reading the book of Pook it will take you past your current problem and help you see the bigger picture.

My questions:
1) Whenever I come across Pooks name being mentioned...he's talked about like someone who has died. So, can any expert on Pook here enlighten me as to his history and relevance here.
2) What is the meaning behind the name pook? Is it some kind of slang word or ....not sure how to ask the question
3) Would most people here agree with most of what he has written?
4) Was the book of Pook written by Pook himself or put together by someone else (whomever you are did you package the contents in the way it reads e.g with all the metaphors and personification e.g "she disappeared in a blaze of fire" etc, lol. love it.)?

My observation from what I've read so far.
I can see why some people might refer to Pook as sexist or overly generalizing. He tends to say that men should be out there doing. However on reading Herb Goldberg's book "What men still don't know: about women, love and relationship" he says that men suffer in their relationships because they relate externally and are first cut off from themselves and therefore can't connect deeply with others women included. This externalization is due to the fact that the values that make men successful in the world out there also make them suffer in their personal relationship. Coming back to Pook's reasoning that Men should be doing...but women do as well don't they? They have sports teams, help in running the country, are involved in politics, want to travel and save the world, have the same kinds of hobbies that a lot of guys do have but in addition with that they also make time to have a connected relationship. Pook makes it seem like it's bad for men to engage in certain things that might be seen as feminine. Your thoughts please?

I can also see people referring to Pook as an egotist because of how he refers to his new self in the book as some sort of oracle with answers. Perhaps this is just his writing style or the style of the person who compiled the book to make it more an interesting reading (which it is). If this book was in print I'd defnitely buy it by the way. Your thoughts. Thanks for putting this book here on this site.

1) He left the forum many years ago that's why they talk like he died.
2) Pook is simply Pook
3) Maybe not 99% of everything he taught but an absurd amount of what he has written is true, has relevance and is taught in a helpful manner.
4) The Book of Pook was put together by someone else, but all the material are from actual posts Pook made on this website.

On your observations I never read Herb Goldberg's book but Pook advocates men taking action because women want men to take action. You provide the action the girl comes to you, you provide only the chit chat and you'll be the girl's bestest friend.

Hmmm, I wonder what he's up to? lol. So, the style in which the book is written is that attributed to the way Pook posts read or is the person who put it together putting it together in a fancy way?
Any idea why he left? I wonder what his views would still be today.

If you google "Pook," you will find a microcosm of the most oddball collection of random things. You will find there is the curious story of Samuel Pook. Disney has a Pook-a-Looz. And, bizarrely enough, there's a song by Jocelyn Pook called "Dionysus," on the soundtrack to the film Gangs of New York, which is ironic because Pook spoke at length about the philosophical differences between Dionysus vs. Apollo (in reference to Camille Paglia).

But, all fun aside, the word "pookie" means "A term of endearment used for a loved one. Often used when one is aroused sexually," according to UrbanDictionary.com.

Pook was here to discuss ideas and he wrote long essays as therapeutic release for himself. He left because the forum outlived beyond its functional purpose—he probably had nothing else to say, nothing else to learn or teach, was tired of people arguing with him, and visiting this forum was an addictive habit. But in the end, he was a master player of the laws of power, for his behaviors honored a number of laws, including vanishing.

Pook was an imaginary future finished product that the poster created in his head to mentor himself (the "Young Man" in his stories) the way of the Don Juan. Once the Young Man became Pook at the end, there was no need for Pook to continue here. "As you think, you shall become".

On another forum, a guy will spot my success with the women and write a Nice Guy Manifesto. On another forum, a guy will see me and come up with ‘seductions’ that I supposedly employed. Yet, on another forum, one will see me and say that I am an @sshole to women, a jerk, and then the forum will join in chorus condemning me. Yet, on another forum, a guy will see me and write an academic manifesto on the psychological influences bouncing in my head and what I was emitting to get the women. These seductionists, academics, philosophers, and in general critics to the world have one thing in common: they must spin out wordy intellectual excuses for why the world is what it is because they are scared to be flesh and blood.

-Pook

Pook says countless times in his posts and even the Book of Pook to STOP trying to analyze him. You're not going to get any better with women the more you try to analyze Pook. You must find your own way, do not imitate his way. That's why I laugh whenever I see someone post "I recommend you to read the Book of Pook!" Yes Pook has good posts but if you really read a lot of his stuff he tells you, you cannot rely on "the Manual" (constantly asking for advice on sosuave), Imitation is Suicide, if you follow the guidelines set by another person, you are not being human but turning yourself into a thing (Aphorisms). He says this countless times throughout his posts yet people always come here trying to completely analyze Pook and imitate him! Pook's posts are gems but people are learning the wrong lesson from them. You have to find your own way in life, not follow the words of some guy on the internet who stopped posting on this forum 7 years ago.

Ah, there you go Mr. Arcbound taking making a mountain of my simple curiosity. I totally get most of what he says. I ask about him because I find him fascinating. I'm not trying to understand him or his motivations (actually I understand). I guess I care to know about his history with Sosuave Forum and what people knew and thought. I just love the way the book was written and compiled. Even though he's talking to himself. It's as if you the reader is in the book with him and he's talking to you as well. As though u were going on some mystical/mythical field trip. That says, "hey this is why I think this...watch this...do you see that? I'm not telling u to be like me but I'm showing you things as I see it" Then you throw in the humor, allegory, metaphors he uses to explain things. I can't remember reading any book written with that format. It's almost someone died and is being shown a vision of his life, lol.

For all the things on pick up etc. The book of Pook is the one that has brought it home for me. I'm not mistaken that Pook doesn't want anyone to necessarily copy him. I've learned a lot from Pook and now from what I've learned I can apply certain things to myself and be my own original self. For the longest time I was thinking that I wanna be a jerk or follow certain formulas to get success with women. So, forgive me if I see things differently because of Pook. It doesn't mean I don't go out and live my life. The different school of thoughts on PU, seduction etc still have their role. Now, I feel like I've been able to reconcile them all. One needs understanding to know how to apply knowledge. So, Mr. Arcbound you better climb down that high horse before I shoot it, lol.

Foolish mortals, POOK ascended into NIrvana 8 years ago. He came to deliver his message, to expose the Matrix and to show us the path to escape it, reshape it and bend it to our will. His message delivered, he left us to ponder his wisdom. Some will accept it and be transformed, others will not,...

Morpheus : When the Matrix was first built, there was a man born inside who had the ability to change whatever he wanted, to remake the Matrix as he saw fit. It was he who freed the first of us, taught us the truth

Never try to read a woman's mind. It is a scary place. Ignore her confusing signals and mixed messages. Assume she is interested in you and act accordingly.

Lol, Rollo somebody better send an angel to Pook to grace us once more with his knowledge. I feel his work is not done. In the sense that from what I've read in the Book of Pook I get the sense that he's the kind of person who keeps re-inventing himself for the better.
I was looking at one of the old posts and I realized that Pook was the reason you came to this forum it totally blew my mind. I mean Pook could be a moderator and asnwer certain questions people might have for more advanced issues. I think someone needs to spell check the book of Pook correct the grammars and have it in print.

Well, it seems Rollo and Penkitten were the troubled spirits that was summoned in the book, lol. I still crack up at Rollo's "Mortal FOOLS" line. I mean really can you imagine how much Pook would have to share now (8 years later). I'm glad someone was willing to compile his posts into a 270 page book. This book is the first I've read in a really long time. Thanks Gubby wherever you are.
