I recently grew out my beard, and although I keep it well-groomed and professional, there is still a lot of talk around the office about it, mostly because we have nothing better to talk about.

The older ladies in the division said they love guys with stubble (I don't keep my facial hair very long), and one said there was a special on the radio where callers voted that the #2 sexiest thing, next to diamonds. Then the only single girl of the group, who is smoking hot, says she loves clean shaven guys, and these women are crazy and I should not listen to anyone that's married.

Personally, I look like I'm about 16 when I'm clean-shaven, which I think is a negative in the work I do, which is why I like keeping the beard. It also hides any pimples whenever they come up, which still happens from time to time.

But then throw in that today, I just got laid off, got hot single girl's phone number/email address, so I'm gonna go out with her, also I'm gonna go on interviews very soon. I really think the clean shaven look is a negative, but I'm getting strong arguments against. Literally, they were telling me that when I started my first day all clean, they thought I was 15. I've talked with about 6 different Human Resource professionals and got mixed results, some saying they don't care, but others saying that it's possible to leave a bad impression because of it. I know they can't discriminate on your appearance, but I'm looking for reality here, people do it.

Thoughts?

Hmm can a mustache be considered stubble like how you are asking? I usually try to stay clean shaven even though I look younger that's how I like to see myself the only thing I keep is my mustache.

2 or 3 days without shaving is the best length. What I do is use the trimmer part of my electric razor. It doesnt shave you completely, so you always look like you havent shaved for a couple days.

^ That's exactly what I do. It's become my trademark. I've also got the soul patch going right now, though.

Condemning a man for having facial hair is the same absurdity as condemning a woman for having no facial hair!!!!

If asian facial hair = no-go area, if not may get away with a bit if it suits you but often clean-cut is the desired and safe bet.

Facial hair is always a plus. I generally sport a french beard becaues it suits my face cut...my pic is in my profile.. though that was taken 10 years ago

At this point you probably have a woman (or multiple women) chasing you around, calling you all the time, wanting to be with you. So let's talk about how to KEEP a woman interested in you once you have her. This is BIG! There is nothing worse than getting dumped by a woman that you really, really like.

Also in the 1 week since I've grown mine out, I've gotten 3 phone numbers from gorgeous women, and flirted with a few more, including possibly the hottest woman I've ever seen. I also had an on-spot interview with someone at a bar last night. I feel like I'm arguing theory against actual results with my parents and brother's father-in-law who tell me to shave. The father-in-law used to be the VP of human resources for one of the largest companies in the world, so has credibility, although his daughter is now a lower level HR rep and says she liked it and should stay (although I do run the risk of running into someone who hates them).

Just wanted to follow up on this thread. My main concern was about facial hair in regards to job hunting, and I went on two interviews recently, and got two job offers! I am sporting the goatee look and keep it neatly groomed, although it may also help that both people interviewing me also had the same goatee. Either way, I don't care, it worked!

What? I'm Asian and chicks love my facial hair. Mine looks like the Balbo (minus the moustache as it gets in the way when kissing, and not as thick) in this pic: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/c5/Beardindex.jpg

Well done, Effington. Neatly groomed facial hair is always  whether it's picking up or in a professional setting. I do look very young when clean shaven and people react quite differently (positively) when I'm sporting my Balbo.

One girl I'm seeing said she likes the look of some stubble but the feel of a clean shave... But as far as a job interview goes always go clean shaven.

I'm not sure why, but even at almost 21 years of age, my facial hair is not thick, not like that of a real man. I have alot of hair growing on sideburns, neck and chin, but pretty thin on the cheeks/jaws. I can't grow a mustache like Borat or Stalin. I get the stubble look after about 2-3-4 days like you said, and depending if i shave down or up the grain. I tend to shave like once a week, by the time my facial hair causes some discomfort. Can someone perhaps recommend a cream to promote hair growth on face?

P.S. On that note: If anyone struggles with hairloss, I recommend what worked for me and actually seems to have REVERSED the process:
shave your head (completely, with a buzzer, then a normal gel and razor), very well so that it's shiny. Then do the same in a few days
Then again couple days later.
Now your hair will start growing thicker.
NEXT, get a product called "Nioxin" and spray it on ur head, few times where you lose hair. and massage it in. Every night. Let your hair grow for a while after you have shaved it those 2-3 times, and keep using nioxin. Should work.

Never try to read a woman's mind. It is a scary place. Ignore her confusing signals and mixed messages. Assume she is interested in you and act accordingly.

Here is how I roll. I could grow a caveman beard, but I like the half gotee, makes my face not look so long.

I'm 22 and don't really give a fvck, I am 6'9" so my big nose doesn't look out of place. I know I'm a caveman, and idk

BTW the poster was not meant to be in, I just took this on my lame laptop camera
