okay everybody, i used acne products, and i hardly have any acne on my face anymore. and i am at least satisfied with the results, however i still have naturally oily skin.... i mean, its so oily that it looks like i went out for a run and started sweating....

I have a very healthy diet, and dont eat junk/greasey foods much.

I wash my face too, with water only though, but for some reason it always looks shiny....... and so after a few hours of not rinsing my face, it becomes oily again and i usually wipe it off.

Try Nivea for Men Oil Control Face Wash and the Nivea for Men Oil Control Moisturiser. Each is about $5 a piece but it's worth the money.

i started getting oily skin only after using acne products, thats probably what did it for you too.while treating acne they seriously **** up your skin in other aspects, oil production is one of them.
i can definately relate to face being shiny during the day and so far havent found anything that really works. of course you can use those oil absorbing lotions, but i personally hate walking around with some sh1t on my face,if you dont have a problem with it then you should try it.i remember theres one from clean&clear that helps at least a bit.

Hey I have a solution that has worked great for me. Forget buying any products, all you need is toilet paper. If it's 2-ply just split it in half, it won't work if you leave it together b/c it will be too thick to absorb. Just press it on to your face for a few seconds and toss it out, I do it about 3-4 times throughout the day and it works like a charm.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel that walking around all day with wads of TP in your pocket is a bit AFC?

C'mon, spend some money on yourself and buy something to control the oil. You buy toothpaste don't you? Why not buy something to control the problem instead of masking it.

yeah, but all that stuff is masking the problem, as you said. you're still walking around with a gooey moisturizer on your face.

Do you know that there is a difference between oily skin and moisturized skin??? If you had ever used any facial products, you would know that removing the oil will leave your skin very dry. You would then need to remoisturize the skin with something other than oil.

Try a boddle, it costs the same as a four pack of bathroom tissue and there's nothing to carry around.

You could also try the "Clean and Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets." They aren't "wads of toilet paper." Just a pack of little sheets. Press on your face and volia! Throw the sheet away and you aren't oily!

Oh, and Francisco...I use moisturizer too but my face still get oily. That's why I use those sheets.

A few things that are good for oily skin are cucumber, lemon juice and witch hazel. These are astringents and will help close your pores, prevent your skin from becoming oily and absorbing dirt too.

Try rubbing a slice of cucumber over the oily areas of your skin after washing/cleansing, leave it to absorb and see if it makes a difference.

Do you use the moisturizer after an astringent? My problem is that the Nivea Oil Control works so well that my face becomes dry. I follow it up with the moisturizer after an astringent to even out the tone. No more worries.

Seems like a lot to do but I'm telling you, no more acne nor greasy head makes it worth it.

Oily skin results because of hormonal imbalances and increases the activity of sebaceous glands. Oily skin needs special cleansing with plenty of hot water n soap to prevent the pores from being clogged. Avoid harsh products that strip your skin of oil and encourage flakiness. They can cause a reaction known as reactive seborrhoea, where the oil glands work overtime to compensate for the loss of natural oils.

Try using a clay or mud mask. If you have sensitive skin, use white or rose-colored clays.

Natural skin - care for you:-

Mix in a few drops of eau de cologne. This not only helps keep oiliness away but also helps in refining the pores of the skin by acting as astringent, thereby preventing acne.

Diet for oily skin:-

* Drink plenty of quality water to keep the skin hydrated and flush out toxins.

* Reduce the amount of fat in your diet. Avoid pork and fried and highly seasoned foods. Consume no animal fats, or heat-processed vegetable oils.

* Do not drink soft drinks or alcoholic beverages. Avoid sugar, chocolate, and junk food

Common Sense Recommendations:-

* Do not smoke. Smoking promotes enlargement of the pores and impairs the overall health of the skin.

* Rub oily skin areas with apple cider vinegar for a neutralizing effect.

* Get sufficient sleep as the skin's cellular repair activity is at its optimum during this resting phase.

* Exercise benefits skin as it boosts circulation and encourages blood flow. Regular exercise will nourish and cleanse your skin from within.

Herbs for oily skin:-

* Witch hazel applied to the skin is excellent for absorbing oil.

* Aloe vera has excellent healing properties. Apply aloe vera gel topically, as needed.

Finally, my own beauty regime for keeping my facial skin oils locked ..... ;) ..... I keep a spray bottle full of cold rose water n spray on my face couple of times in the day ........ in office n home both places ........ n my skin looks good :) ............ n oil free

Gregory dear, you know the great advantage of oily skin is that it ages at a slower rate than other skin types.

Take care :)

Yeah, I have the same problem, and when someone mentioned Lemon Juice(can't remember name, sorry.), It rang a bell. Lemon Juice does work. i use to use it all the time, but i forgot i used it because i stopped at somepoint. Lemon Juice is good for zits too.

btw...I have Seboriaic(spelling?) Dermatitis. Its not fun. It's pretty much like, you get patches of dry skin on your face.
