Eat it raw: soak it in regular temperature water and eat it
-The oats soak up less water this way, and they are much less filling, which means you can eat more of them. Technically, dry oatmeal is already cook, its steamed at high temperatures to kill all the bacteria.

Get the steelcut/irish/scottish kind
-Its just regular oatmeal, only cut up into smaller pieces. This way, you're getting more oatmeal in the same package. Even though its more expensive, you're actually getting more oatmeal per dollor. Plus, you don't have to blend it with steel cut. Blending a regular oatmeal shake will give about the same consistancy of a just mixing in the steel cut kind.

i'm not an oatmeal fan, but people who are say that steelcut oats are the only way to go. maybe that's the problem, i've only ever had instant. instant oatmeal tastes to me like... flavorless paste, or damp cardboard. usually with added sugar.

I grew up on instant oats and love em. I mix two bags of low sugar maple or apple flavored with two bags of regular. Plenty of flavor, much lighter on the sugar.

I did think about that. But all microwaves do is excite water molecules. thus producing heat.
But don't microwave your cat when it's cold because the insides of animals are to be kept at a constant tempretures.

Don't tell me you had to learn this the hard way.

If guess we all learn from our mistakes, don't we?

sounds pretty...different, but i wudnt add the jelly personally cause not only would it be a pain in the ass to go and buy and then make it, but its basically pure sugar

Easiest way i found is to grind them in a coffee bean grinder then add them to your shake.

I can't find the steel cut oats at the stores in my area, so what I like to do is blend the regular oats into a shake.

12 oz. skim milk (lactose free for me)
1 cup of frozen wild blueberries
1.5 scoops chocolate whey protein
1/2 cup dry uncooked oats

Blend. Has an interesting texture, but it's pretty damned good

I also just put in a blender as p0art of the shake. When I put too much or put it last it sometimes doesnt blend fully and sinks to the bottom. In that case just shake it well right before drinking.

I've never liked the taste of adding oatmeal to my Whey protein shake. It seems no matter how long I blend it, the shake tastes like gravel. Maybe the Irish Cut oatmeal would do the trick.
i just pour raw oatmeal into a cup and put enough (made) crystal light type drink into the cup to cover it. Then i eat it out with a fork. It's just fine that way. I guess this only works if you like sweet things though...

I read that Ryan Reynolds used to make HUGE batches of steel cut and freeze them so he could always just microwave it in the morning instead of having to cook it everytime.

does that really work? how long can you freeze it for?
