meat over protein powder

i prefer meats over protein powder. meats are a great source of zinc for the immune system and libido. Also a great source for B vitamins that regluate metabolism and help the brain with thought and emotional well being. also a great source of iron which the body needs some small but regular amounts of. i say small because is it possible to get too much iron which can cause problems so unless u are low in iron don't take iron supplement or multivitamins with iron. there's plenty of iron in meats. also beef contains natural form creatine. and the reason i prefer meats over protein powders is because i swear i've lost muscle size and gained weight while using these whey and soy protein powders. when i was doing the atkins ongoing weightloss routine i had gotten big and lean. now with substituting these powders instead of taking the time to cook all that meat my physique has been shifting to smaller on the arms and shoulders and more bodyfat on the pecks and abs.

Remember, some people have budgetary constraints, so affording lots of meat and fish is out of reach for some people. I make enough money, but i'm still kind of cheap when it comes to eating.
So, it definitely is cheaper to supplement with whey protein, my personal favorite being Optimum Nutrition. EAT OR DRINK YOUR PROTEIN EVERY 2-3 HOURS!! This is the most important aspect of weightlifting nutrition.

For fish, that is one of the most expensive things, so i find some other source of Omega 3, such as Flax oil. I don't take enough flax to know if it works. I started taking it for the skin benefits, not for lifting. Oh, and tuna fish in a can isn't very expensive. And hell, it's 32 grams of protein per can! (just don't smother it with fatty mayonaise.)

I don't know what your goals are though, so its hard to give advice. I heard fruits aren't the greatest thing for cutting, cause they have natural sugar.

Vegetables rule! No fat, and perfect for stir fry with chicken or lean red meat!

I know almonds are supposedly amazing for the body, but i'm kind of scared about how much fat nuts have, so i avoid them.
I realize the body needs essential fatty oils, which nuts contain, but is it worth the nutrition if you are trying to cut? If someone could answer that, i would appreciate it.

Nutrition rules. I can finally turn down donuts, and walk through the store and not buy junk food, chips, or Mountain Dew, and it feels great!

google it, there's many a site with nutritional info, or you could get nut which is a program with lots of nutritional info, find it on sf.net

as for turkey vs chicken, turkey has an enzyme or some other thing in it that makes you sleepy.

A handfull of almonds is NOT bad for you! It does have fat, yes. BUT it also has lots of calcium for strong bones. Eatting a can of salted almonds is bad, eating 10 as a snack or a pre-workout pick-me-up won't hurt you.

Turkey & chicken are both excellent forms of low fat meat. The only difference is chicken is less expensive. (As for the sleepy enzyme, unless you eat TONS of turkey at a single meal it won't affect you.)
