Hey guys, I just started getting into weight lifting a few months ago and I've mostly been lifting light and medium weight to get myself acclimated. Today when I got home I threw on some music and loaded up the bar with some heavy weights. I did a 5x5 on squats, bench press and barbell rows and had to push myself hard and struggled at the end but I finished them with good form. So I got done and showered then sat down to relax.

That's when I noticed this crazy feeling. It was almost like a weird glowing radiating feeling in my legs and chest. It felt really good "almost like a high" and I am already thinking about my next lift day. When they say lifting weights makes you feel good, is that what they mean or am I just crazy ?

I know what you mean. Sometimes after working out I feel totally at peace and just really good. It's such a relaxed feeling that I can fall asleep standing (I've done it before lol).

That good feeling is different for everyone though. Sent feel energetic, some relaxed, some feel a sense of achievement like "yeah! I just did that!", etc.

It's definitely a high. When your body is subjected to high amounts of physical (and mental) stress, lt produces it's own (milder) versions of all the best recreational drugs...endorphins (opiates), cannabinoids, adrenaline, anxiolitics, etc
