Hey everybody,

I read in the DJ Bible that finding something to be passionate about like sports or whatever is a great way to become a more well-rounded person. I feel that this would be a great idea for me because as it stands I have a very narrow scope of interests. Right now I'm into some geeky stuff. I spend a lot of time on the computer (mostly because I have to be home throughout the day since I have to care for my dad who was injured in a motorcycle accident). I also head to a local games shop to pick up video games and board games for when I get together with my friends who have similar interests.

All of my other friends enjoy doing other things than just playing on the computer and such, so it's hard to relate to them when we're doing something else. I'm looking to bridge the gap between myself and others.

So, my question to you guys is as follows:

What are some other things I can get in to doing?

I'm really not a sportsy type (read: completely athletically retarded).

I'm a big reader and am good at learning things, so it wouldn't be hard to learn something new if I put my mind to it.

Suggestions, anybody? Thanks.

Start writing a book? If you like reading, that would be logical.

Painting?

Musical instrument?

The musical instrument is an especially good idea, but I'm also looking for something that will get me out and with other people with similar interests.

We can't really answer this for you- you just have to find out yourself. Look inside yourself- what do you like to do? You named some of your hobbies already... why not get serious about them? Once you start pursuing them you'll meet people who are in the same boat as you. If you aren't the athletic type and don't enjoy sports, then don't try to be that. (This doesn't mean you shouldnt be hitting the gym and eating healthy)

Go shoot some pool or bowl, the most athletically challenged people do that. Otherwise, like you said, read some new books, get educated on a subject that is both interesting and important to your life and your peers. Go workout at a gym to pass the time, collect a bunch of music and put it on your iPod to listen to while you workout. Research some new hairstyles and clothing (not metrosexual stuff, just keep yourself updated with some trends) and maybe create your own 'style'. Rearrange your living quarters in some way. Collect something cheap and easy (I collect shot glasses from different parts of the country)

If you really want to be around people, you could volunteer. There are often many young, professional females who volunteer for youth organizations/ charity events. But that is up to you if you like doing it.
