I use to work out at a local gym for about 4 months during the end of last year between October and January of this year, but due to quitting my job and now in a financial downfall. I want to know how effective are push-ups and sit-ups are. I can also do one-hand push-ups. So I wonder if one-hand push-ups are more effective due to supporting your whole bodyweight while working out? As for pull-ups , I have a tree in the backyard with horizontal branches about 7 feet off the ground. And what about some leg exercises? Any advice would be appreciated.

Pull ups are awesome - chin ups are good too IMO, if you can do more than 8-10 then use a back pack and fill it with books.

Do pushups with both hands and put a backpack filled with books on your back, make sure you can do no more than 8-10 of these push ups.

Sit ups are great, leg raises too if you hang from the tree. If you can do more than 12 sit ups than add some weight to your chest.

LEG EXERCISES:

Calves raise, use a backpack or similiar or do one calve at the time. Stand in a staircase and lift yourself up and down with the front edge of the foot (not the toes).

Good mornings: (hamstrings): Get the backpack filled with books as high up on your back as possible then do this exercise:

watch your back with that one.

You can do some squats with a backpack too, but you'll need more weight.

DELTOIDS:

Upright rows work if you find a suitable objekt to lift. (backpack work OK)

Handstand push ups is another option.

Arnold Press probably works ok to with a backpack, have not tried it.

BICEPS AND TRICEPS:

Biceps: Biceps curl with your backpack or suitable objekt
Skull crushers/triceps extension: Lay on a table and grab the backpack and do this:

You can do hammer curls too.

It'll hit you in the face though :/

FOREARMS:

Wrist flexors and reversed wrist flexors with your backpack :D

Hope this works or you can come back and flame my ass, good luck.

if your goal is to put on mass you wont achieve this doing body weight exercises, if you enjoy wasting time go ahead.

if your goal is strength, this is an OK idea, you would get much greater benefit through heavy weight though that will put a adequate amount of strain on your muscle for superior benefits.

if your goal is to lose fat, do cardio.

I think some people can get reasonably big on Hindu squats, chins and raised leg pressups. But most people don't.

However you can probably sort your self out by getting 2nd hand weights from a car boot sale or ebay(if local).

Have a look at hardgainer.com they have lots of DIY gym ideas. People use sandbags, lumps of iron etc. Also see Dinosuar training.

What may be more of a prob is food if you are skint. Again though a bit of searching arouns and creativity will sort you out.

I knew a chap who got a thick metal pipe and two oil drums. Threaded them through the pipe and just added sand/ gravel to them and just did deadlift. Nothing else.

I used to think you had to exerciese every muscle evry week. Yet I have seen loads of blokes just do clean and press, squat and rows and overtake me in weight gain/strength. Pisssed me off but it's true.

It doesn't matter how good-looking you are, how romantic you are, how funny you are... or anything else. If she doesn't have something INVESTED in you and the relationship, preferably quite a LOT invested, she'll dump you, without even the slightest hesitation, as soon as someone a little more "interesting" comes along.
