hey im 22, 5'11 and 180 lbs. i've been looking to boost my weight up to around 195-200 to have a more muscular frame and i was wondering how fast should i realistically see weight gain? im eating near 4000 calories a day and i think over the course of 2 weeks i've gained a couple pounds, making me around 183. the only question is, how can i help turn it into muscle mass and not fat? what are some good, detailed tips.

Woah hang on there, if you're looking to put on weight the only way to go is by putting on muscle.

Your calorie in-take is extremely important and needs to be measured.

There's a great guide on here by Alex called "The Idiots Guide to Growth" - I recommend you read it over.

Balanced Diet is the way forward. Proteins, Fats, and Carbs - Non Starchy vegetables, eggs, butter, red meat, white meat...natural foods that you'd hunt! Your cells need protein and good fats to repair and build! Fvck the numbers, we aren't programmed to run on numbers! Numbers cause all sorts of problems! You are you not a genrelisation i.e. a number! Do what works for you but keep your diet balanced!! Going by numbers is not the way forward...Type II diabetics go by numbers, and they end up with heart bypass surgery...keep the protiens, fats, and carbs balanced. How much protiens and fats do you need??? Well your gall bladder will tell you that!

Low fat/protein high carb diets are the cause of high cholestoral - and why? Well cos' the body isn't getting cholestoral from good fats and proteins so the liver over-produces the stuff...it has no mechanism to stop! That is why diabetics end up with heart diesease...the high carb low fat diets!!!

Funny how many guys start by eating twice their normal intake of calories to gain wait and then once they gain it, they want it to turn to muscle.. I think we should stop using the term gaining weight and change it to gaining muscle.

yeah i do, i have what u'd call an ectomorph frame, and while statistically my weight sounds OK i still look skinny. trust me, i could use a little more mass i believe my arms measured like 15 inches.
