Check the local trading rags

... those little free classified ad rags you see in newsstands all over the place. Here we have one called "Trading Times."

Very often there are PAs and such being unloaded for less than you can find them for in a pawn shop.

What are you going to be using this for? A rehearsal space? Give me some details and maybe I can help you out a little more.

ok,

for practicing in a garage or playing a house party the setup you found should work fine. As far as playing in larger spaces that setup isnt gonna be any good (im sure you already knew that).

Unless you wanna spend upwards of $2000+ your best bet is to peice together a set-up with other bands that are also playing the venue if there is no house PA. It kind of sucks but all bands go through that at the beginning.

In my personal setup I have tri-amp system with 3 QSV 1000 watt amps, a behringer 4 way (3 band + sub output) crossover, behringer 2 channel tube mic pre-amp, and JBL 1500 watt speakers for each band running off a 16 channel mackie board. I have around $2000 invested and I can thump a house party crystal clear but larger areas I have to pull in backup equipment from friends..

Good luck to ya man.
