I'm going to go with Jones. Granted, he doesn't have the batting average like Pujols but Pujols hasn't done anything beyond what he usually has. Also, Jones has gone far and beyond anything he has done in previous seasons.

Plus... the Cardinals have gotten more wins due to their pitching rather than their offense.

I'd add Miguel Cabrera to that list. I think Andrew Jones just slightly edges out Pujols for MVP, he single handedly carried Atlanta on offense and defense.

Take Pujols out of the St Louis lineup, and what do you have?

NL Central champions.

Take Jones out of the Braves lineup, and what do you have?

A bunch of 19 year olds who probably wouldn't be in charge of the NL East.

Pujols is a shining star in a brilliant offense, but he's not the most valuable player. Jones sure is.

Pujols is a great player, no doubt about that. But how many fewer games would the Cards have won with a replacement player instead of him? Maybe five. He'd be MVP if he played with any other team, but for now, he's a victim of the quality of his team. That's what we call a "high quality problem".

For all this talk about "above and beyond previous seasons" how can D. Lee NOT get it? He was the biggest sleeper I've ever seen this year.

If men got on base in front of him, he'd have no trouble with the triple crown.

Unfortunately, everybody else on the Cubs decides to suck at all the wrong times.

D. Lee certainly has MVP stats this year, but he got hurt, and the Cubs have slipped. Usually MVPs are from winning teams, and as good as Pujols is, I still think ANdrew Jones is carrying that Braves offense. I just hope it continues in the postseason so the Braves can get to the WS again and lose to the Red Sox in 6 hihihi

btw. I think David Ortiz wins AL MVP, he is singlehandedly started to carry that Red Sox offense, and another Walkoff HR tonight....just great. ARod? Well, the Yankees are nowhere and Arod is getting lost in a sinking team. After this year, Yanks would have to do some major reconstruction to get back into shape.

A-Rod kills teams. The Mariners were losers with him, and when they let him go, what did they do? Won 116 games. The Ranger sucked with A-Rod, and then all of a sudden became competitive when they traded him for Soriano. The Yankees, with A-Rod, watched the Red Sox break the "curse of the Bambino", and now with the Angels and A's engaging in open warfare in the AL West, the Yankees have a strong chance of missing the playoffs for the first time in God knows how many years. Now here's hoping that both the Angels and A's get red hot and start destroying everyone so one of the two gets the wild card wrapped up...

EDIT: Oops, forgot to cast my vote. Andruw Jones. Lee is not part of a winning team, and Pujols is not the difference between an NL Central championship and missing the playoffs. Without Jones, the Braves don't make the playoffs. Simple as that.

If the Yankees make the postseason, I'd say Giambi has a good case for MVP in the AL. No one will vote for him, but he was the best hitter in baseball for about a month and a half this summer.

Mo deserves a mention for keeping the Yankees in the contention at all, but after last night...

I'm a Yankees fan, by the way :D
