I dont get how to become funnier. I dont want you guys to tell me practice makes perfect, because it dousn't. Look at all the comedians that stuck at it, and in the end they weren't funny in fact they were NOT funny. You guys say watch comedy and stand up. I rented everything i thought was funny and spent hours watching it, and i can honestly say no improvement. I tried to not be funny, and i the same results. The best advice was be honest some things you think will make others laugh, but i dont know how to improve at being funny. I was hoping you guys can help me with this.

Being funny isn't about 'learning' other peoples techniques, it's a 'feeling' that you have, some people are just funny because it's the way they are! what you really have to do is find out what type of personality you have and get the best out of it.

what you can try is be more relaxed about things, dont take life too seriously, be honest about who you are and your abilities.

sometimes I can be in a funny mood and sometimes in a boring mood, it's how you feel at the end of the day.

Hang out with people who are funny. Then imitate their style and eventually your own style will emerge. It's basically how I learned.

I actually have a similar problem. Alot of people think I'm funny, more then a few have suggested I do stand up comedy, but the problem is, I can't be funny on purpose.

If I tell a joke 99% of the time it falls flat. It actually drives me nuts, I've gotten people to crack up, but not on purpose, I can't see to find the damn on/off switch for humor. Somehow when it happends, it just well... flows.

exactly. dont sit there and try to be funny. cracking jokes at every little thing gets old after awhile. just live life and say wat u feel. enjoy urself. when having fun u should focus on entertaining urself, and most times people will catch on and entertain themselves right with u. if u focus on trying to entertain everyone else u will never get anywhere. it is not your job to be their personal clown. be your own personal clown.

people will catch on if u sit there and try too hard to be funny, and then they will think u are not funny.
