I make a reference to the novel Siddhartha because the book is alot like this website.. we are all on some sort of path of enlightenment, mostly having to do with women.

Bare with me becuase it's going to be somewhat difficult to put what I am trying to express into words.

As most of you... well not now, I don't come here alot anymore.. well, I bet on horses for a living. Make a great living doing it as well. That's besides the point. The point is, when I first started, I had some success (or else I would have never done it full time) and using my analyitical brain, I would try to take the reactions and make my betting conclusions according to them. Which worked to some extent. In other words...

Horse A won because had a good break from the post and had good position going into the backstretch. This is a trend alot of horses do when they win, therefore I will only bet horses that have (what I call) a Stalking racing style (sitting 2-3 lengths behind the leader).

or

Horse B Won because he moved up in class after loosing his last race by a nose. Therefore all horses loosing the last race by a nose going up in class deserve to be bet, assuming he has been well worked, etc.

And again this worked, until I came to the bigger, more broder conclusion which probably quadrupled how much i make, without anywhere near as much effort (analying mathmatical figures instead of horse races) and said...

The horse won because he was ready to race.

Seems simple enough but I will be damned. The few handicappers who actually see how i pick my horses are shellshocked at how little information I use. I just watch races. HOrses that aren't ready... just aren't ready. You can tell when a horse is going into a race he is ready to win.

Where am I going with all of this.

Well, I have a daily routine. I get up, workout, eat, read something that motivates me. I have a list of all of pooks post on my pc and I was reading over them about a week and a half ago while eating my breakfast and I was skimming though one of his old posts and something jumped out at me and slapped me in the face...

"Confidence is the broken link between dream and day".

At the time I didn't really understand it, but it just sounded like it made a hell of alot of sense. I copied it, put it in my signature here and put a copy of it as the back drop on my laptop.

Then I started to sit down and think.. why in the hell DOES it make so much sense?

All of these tips, all of this site, all started to come together. I started to realize why I was successful, why I was happy and why some people aren't. I started to realize why some good looking guys are gREAT with women while some are horrible. I started to realize why some guys can be LOSERS and get grade A Ass while some guys can have thieir **** together and not be anywhere near as successful.

Confidence is nothing but a measure to how close you are to living your dreams and women love a confident man.

This is why the fat man, well not obese, but bigger guy can get women why you and your six pack, well not you but you get the point, don't have the success that you would think all the time.

Take my life.. this is a normal day in my life. I wake up about 6ish. 6:15 I am working out to about 7. 7am to 8am i am doing sometype of cardio training. 8am to 9 I am reading. 9am to about 3 to 5, depending on what tracks are open (I only bet 3 or 4 days a week, monday though wednesday I am gathering information for my bets on the weekends.. usually just monday and tuesday i can get it all done and take a last look around to make sure I didn't miss anything.. maybe 30 mins or so wednesday morning, I try to take wednesdays off.) 5:30 to about 6:30 I usually work out again (I set a goal to be in a trialthon next year).. 6:30 on I am usually on a date, cooking or reading a book.

That day in my life, which is now my average day, is a day that 2 years ago, I literarly dreamed about having, even when I had my computer company.

Notice none of that really has to do with women (I leave some time in the evening open for activities.. not necesssarly women).; I don't workout for women, I workout because when I dream about myself, that's how I envision me, as a in shape, slim but musclar guy. I also workout becuase I want to be a triathlete. I play the violin and the piano not because it will help me score, but because I love music. I have picked up odd hobbies, one of which is deep sea fishing and snorkeling, because I am an animal nut. I love learning aobut new aninmals.

to put this in perspective.. when I was 21 and had my computer company, I had some success.. I had a GF, money in the bank and I had high interest from SOME women.. some decent looking chicks too. But as much as I hate to admit it, I never had the nerve to do anything about most of them. Why you might ask? I had a company yes, but the only reason I did it, and I really hate to admit it but I have to be honest with myself was to spite women for my AFCness.. in particular one girl.. basically to say "see you women, see what you missed out on, I am now successful" only to be somewhat miserable. Granted, it was fun, but it wasn't what I wanted to do. I was overweight.. not FAT FAT but big enough to wear I needed new clothes. Now the weight itself wasn't that big of a problem.. the fact the real me and the way I envisioned myself were worlds apart was. I grew up playing musical insterments and I had gotten away from it.. it was a pretty big part of my life growing up.

Here is the breakdown. The guy who is living his dreams is higher than the guy who is chasing his dreams (while the guy who has achieved his dreams should always be chasing something, set new goals, new desires, keep growing). The guy who is chasing his dreams is higher than the guy who has not activly chasing his dreams but has dreams. The guy who has dreams is higher than the guy who has no dreams.

The higher you are, the more confident you are. The more confident you are, the more you appeal to women.

This entire site can be rolled up into that post.

I have a friend who is overweight but sets goals for himself in his career. He is an advoid history buff and travels all over the country to see different civil war sites, buy antiques from different wars, all kinds of stuff. To be overweight, he gets a hell of a lot of women.. nice looking ones as well, on his tail.

I know what most women would call an attractive guy.. slinder (too slinder), strong jaw lines, etc. He is 21, lives with his parents, doesn't go to school, doesn't work, doesn't have a car, his parents are very very well off but won't let him smooch off of them so he can't drive their car and they wont' buy him one. He has the biggest porn collection I have ever seen.. I don't know what he wants to do with his life, and I don't think he does either. He gets interst because of his looks, but after a date, if it even gets that far, they run like the plauge. Because he doesn't live out his dreams, or at least try to, he tries to get women to confirm that they don't think he is the loser he really is, so he is clingy (alot of the problems guys here have as well), calls too much, overthinks everything.. get my point?

It's what that "loser" has over you, event hough you tried to "act DJ"on her.. DJ is more than a bunch of moves and techniques.. it's a way of live. It's living out dreams.

It's the reason why 10 percent of men get 90 percent of the pvssy

What ARE your dreams? Why AREN'T you living them? Why aren't you trying.

I met this guy and this girl yesterday. the guy was 25.. the girl was about 28. Just had a baby girl. About an 8.. pretty damn good looking girl. I was getting my car serviced at the local dealership and the guy kept test driving cars, trying to buy one for his wife. The guy ended up spending close to 900 a month on a car to please a woman who didn'[t even really want the damn car, she just wants a real man. He isn't realizing his dreams (partly because of her, she locked him up when he was 19) and he is trying to keep her happy... he is going out of town (to make extra money for her) for 6 months and slid me her number and told met o call her in a week. She (and her baby) were going gaga over me by the time I left. The difference between her husband and I were too apparant.. not a bad looking guy. Unsure of himself, he has no control over himself, his budget, his wife, etc. He is so scared of loosing her she mentioned that she might want a new car soon and he ended up plopping about 40 large on a new car that he will struggle to afford while she makes 300 dollars a week working at (literarly) an ice cream stand.

it's really this simple.. live your dreams. Dream... Then do everything possible to live it.

Bb,

As long as I've been here I've always appreciated your posts. You, and a select few other posters, really capture the true spirit of what this site is about.

This post really shows the difference between true and false confidence. Overcoming obstacles and following through with dreams are what separates the men from the boys in the long haul. I remember when I was younger and more shy I got dropped by a couple of girls because I was to unsure of myself. Even then I knew what I wanted in life and actively pursued it, I didn't act ****y about it and brag of my accomplishments. Looking back on it I say thank god that those girls dropped me and went for a ****y kid with nothing to back it up. I'm living the life that I wanted and it will only get better from here. My confidence now is true and not faked, and I still remain humble since I know that there are a ton of people who have done more than me. I continue to strive to be the best that I can and progress in life doing what I enjoy.

I completely agree that women are not the end all and be all of everything in a mans life. I actually feel sad for guys who value themselves based on the girls that they are with. That is being worse than an "afc" who does the same but doesnt deny it. Too many guys on here are looking for girls to fill in a void in their life instead of a girl to complement their already existing and fulfilling life. I think that such an attitude is the opposite of what this site stands for. I guess it comes down to the guys who are willing to open their eyes will learn, those who are to stubborn to even look at what is put on the silver platter in front of them will never learn. I'm happy to have opened my eyes.

BTW you bet on the breeders last weekend?

yeah, didn't do as well as I did last year. I hate churchill downs.. bad track bias.. I did a little bit better than breaking even.

anyway, alot of guys here don't want solutions, they want answers. they want tips to get that one girl, thinking that their situtation is sooo different then anything anyone else here has experienced, and thinking if they get her everything is okay, or if they learn how to get women to like them everything in life will be okay... isnt that the defination of AFC?

AFC isn't necessarly guys with boxes of chocloates and roses... AFC isn't the guy always that calls 10 times a day. AFC is anyone who looks at a woman for approval. AFC is anyone who has their egos tied into women. The more you live out yoru dreams, the more this isn't a problem

Do you have a link to Siddartha?

It doesn't matter how good-looking you are, how romantic you are, how funny you are... or anything else. If she doesn't have something INVESTED in you and the relationship, preferably quite a LOT invested, she'll dump you, without even the slightest hesitation, as soon as someone a little more "interesting" comes along.

Great post man...Siddhartha kind of opened my eyes awhile back when I read it, but as always, the message loses effect after awhile so it's good to see a post in that spirit bring it back into the conscious!

Great Post!
Very well said... spot on correlation.

Book was excellent as well.
I reccomend all of Hesse's books. He's a fantastic writer.

Your handi-capping really interests me.
I'm all about hustling great money, through myself.
Never could work for anyone. So I took up FOREX a few years back.
Right now... is my 50/50 tilt point.
You know... where your just getting your sh!t down, and actually learning to be succesful a hair more than you fail. Its all a learning... but the development of such knowledge and refining that sense, pays off BIG in the end.

How long did it take you to develop a succesful sense for the races?
How'd you learn? Mentor...?

Not to steer your post in a different direction. Cause its on point!
If you'd like maybe fire up another thread... I think a few cats in here would be interested. And the way I see things... a succesful sense in anything is of value, and can be crossed over to anything else.

Peace'

i had a few people on here pick mhy brain about 6-9 months ago.. it should be up if you do a search. anyway I have a mintue and don't mind talking about it.

Successful Sense? IN all honestly.. about 15 years.. but as far as how to make money the right way, about 1 and a half. I have been around horse racing since I was literarly 6. My dad used to take me to the track every saturday and give me 20 dollars to bet. After a while, by the time I was 9 or 10, I was actually breaking even and making a little money. I could read a Past Performance sheet, I knew what Bryer Speed figures were (but couldn't do fractions yet), I didn't get the concept of pace or running styles, layoffs.. I Knew, even at an early age, if Pat Day or Calvin Borel was on a horse, any horse, it's a favorate regardless of what the odds or the public thinks. I actually won a pick 3 when I was 10.. about 300 bucks.. my dad let me go to blockbuster and rent 5 whole games!!! and of course keep the rest... oh and he let me go to red lobster as well.

when I got 18, and had just started my company, I got this bright idea... I can bet on horses for a living.. I mean, I know more than most my age about the game, it can't be that hard right? I wasn't close to being able to do it professionaly, got fustrated and focused on my company for the next two and a half years.

ONe day I woke up to my GF at the time, when I had my company and I said you know what... I'm done. She said done what? I said done with this.. It's time for me to move on. I had started a successful business, but believe it or not, I was kinda miserable becuase even though i was successful, I wasn't doing what I wanted to do. I would rather be broke and happy doing what I wanted to do than have money and objects and be miserable... I wasn't miserable.. I liked computers, I was damn good at my job, but it was very stressful, and I wanted to chase a dream.

So I sold my company, took a small amount (about 50k) and said I can live off of this for the next year.. the rest of the money is going in the bank incase I need something to fall back on... I knew I could start my own computer company again if worse came to worse...i knew the business and I had the startup capital.

Of that 50k, I think I only dipped 7 or 8 into it. Once I took it seriously like a job, and watched races all day every day for about 2 and a half months, things just started to "make sense" to me.

To make a long story short, I was worth more when i had my company (and in about a year that's not going to be the case anymore) but I make a hell of alot more money, doing what i want to do , without working anywhear near as hard.. i mean, it's work, it's hard work, but running a company the size I had... stress can't begin to describe it.

I have long serpassed my dad in handicapping skills. However he taught me the basics.

The only thing that really sucks ass is how much I get taxed.. I am not even going to tell you how much I paid in taxes last year.

I don't really have long doughty streaks.. I think the most races I have lost in a row was 7 which in horse racing, is a blessing.. I might make 2-3 bets a day. I spend a lot of time breaking down races I think will have a big payday, and why and figuring out what are the posibilities of this or that happening, why, etc. I then figure out what posibility is the most possible and then which is the most finanically rewarding and if it somewhat matches up.

what the hell.. I have a little time.

Let me take you into a normal day and how I think. Yesterday (I didn't make any bets today, got a little ****ed up last night plus there wasn't really anything all that exciting going on on tracks today)

I bet different tracks... There is a horse named Joust that runs at Hawthorne that won his last race, in very very very impressive fashion. Without really being put to the test, broke from a far post, took the early lead and when the jockey asked him for some, he left the feild of maidens and won by 9 or so lenghts.

The Horse looked good, his workouts weren't bad, good jockey, good trainer... but looking at the other horses in the race, the fav was a horse that got a perfect trip last race and still wasn't impressive... actually looking at the actual races and looking at every other horses actual races... joust was the best horse, even though he was in a higher class.. it wasn't that much damn higher... good post position, etc.

the horse had M/L odds of 8 to 1. Some people got hip and bet him down to about 5 to 1.. but I jumped all over him... (I dont' like to disclose how much money I bet, opens a whole new can of worms.. but I bet heavy) and he won paying 12.80 for a two dollar ticket.. I would have been on him at anything over 3 to 1. He was 8 to 1 simply because he was moving up in class.

Then the same day, at Laurel Park, you have Nancy's Grace.. I wasn't as sold on her as I was Joust, but she was impressive. Impressive enough to bet at the odds that were being presented.. One rule I have learned is, if you like a horse but dont' love him, and you don't love any other horse in the field, your horse has just as good a chance as any to win.. and usually a longer shot will win thoose types of races... not in this one. The fav ended up winning, my horse came in next to last.. not enough juice... hey, I'm 50 percent today.. I will take that all day long

I had a bet a Meadowlands (Race 2, Colubert Street) which if the odds were right I was going to bet on, and a Race at Aqueduct (Race 8, For a Prayer) that I was absolutly going to clean house on, but the race got cancelled.

so for the day I made two bets. I started actually working at about 11:45am and was done, because I knew the meadowlands horse was going to get scratched, at about 4pm... actually I really didn't start working until 2:30... booth my bets were real close together.. i took a nap from about 12:50 until like 2:10

(one day I took a nap, woke up late and the horse I was going to bet paid something like 60 dollars for a win ticket, because of a jockey switch or something... I was sick)

anyway.. it's fun. Good money when you are on, and it's a lot more secure than you would think
