Hey everyone. I've been lurking the boards for about a week now.

A little background: I'm 21 years old, and totally shy around girls. I have friends, but none of them are women. I've never been on a real date, never even kissed a girl, so I decided to go through with this boot camp thing. If i can do it with absolutely no background, then ANYBODY can. I'm going to try to dedicate myself to this, and build small.

I already tried some eye contact, and it's difficult, few people will hold your gaze longer than a second.

I go to a big American University, so chicks are everywhere, and i'm only concentrating on them. I'm going to go out for 30 min to an hour now, see how things go. Let day 1 begin.

Good luck! It's always good to see guy taking some action to change themselves. I know you'll have success if you follow the plan!

There's a bunch of us already doing bootcamp in another thread.

Day 1 Results:

Overall not to shabby.

Only worked on eye contact. Some people just will not look at you. Other times they will lock eyes, and once or twice i coudln't help but smile. The best is when they flip their hair as you pass, i feel like i got one up on them when that happens. Must have made eye contact with 5-10 girls(only went for ones i'd consider at least average).

Had a random conversation with 2 freshman girls, none of them my type so i didn't go for a number close or even introduce myself(maybe i should have). They wanted to know where the classes were so i talked to them for a good few minutes, asked them where they lived, made a joke or two. One of them was giving me good eye contact and smiling. It's much easier when the girls come on to you, a las.

I'm also trying to chat with random people on the elevator, just for some rapport.

I hope Day 2 goes well, i may try to implement some hi's while i'm at it. Thanks for the votes of confidence, this is going to be a long journey.

Maybe one day this will go in the DJ Bible;) Maybe not..

Later.

Week 1 Day 2:

This did not go as well for me. I have yet to say hi to anyone:( I continued with the eye contact although it was difficult to gage girls in sunglasses. When your heading to class you'd be suprised how little people respond to eye contact.

I am vowing to get some hi's out by tommorow. From eye contact to hi might be one of the hardest steps for me, it's just I want total confirmation before saying hi and i'm rarely getting that glance back.

On a side note, some girl was flirty with me by the elevator today, as it was broken and i didn't tell her. So she walked in, then walked out, and said, "O thanks for telling me about the elevator" and I made some joke back.

Nevertheless, a lot of work to do.

keep it up

Its tough sometimes but it gets easier. The responses you get will improve with your experience. I made eye contact smiled and said hi to almost everyone I walked past today (streets weren't crowded at the time) The responses people give will improve with your experience to. Eventually it will be so natural, and its a great emotional high. Keep up the good work man.

I also feel awkward saying hi on a crowded street. I'd rather it be more desolate, and it has to be just 1 chick, not a group.

:(

don't feel awkward...when i just started out, i felt awkward doing this too. but there's a post here that goes something along the lines of "a confident man would not be afraid to say 'hi' to a stranger"

also, think of it as like you already know her...if you knew her, wouldn't you say "hi" to her if you passed her on a crowded street? exactly, you would. same with cold approaches...i know it's cliche, but "a stranger is a friend you haven't met yet"

just making eye contact is good enough...i had two girls smile at me and look down when i made eye contact with them, just passing by on campus

you're doing good...keep it up :woo:

It's scary to me when they really look at you for a while, then it's a staring contest, and i have lost out mostly.

It's amusing actually.

I have to get this hi crap out of the way, onwards and upwards.

I know what you mean.

Day 3:

Terrible,Terrible, Terrible.

I did some EC's but that's no fun anymore.

I couldn't get a single hi out on at least a 20 minute walk both ways to the bookstore.

On the way back i was so determined to say hi to this HB6 . She was giving me EC from a mile away, and as i pass her, i here myself saying Hi in my head, i feel it at the edge of my tongue, but nothing comes out.

I'm so mad.. this has gotten my mood down.. I just need to do it, i think to much. I overanaylze this, i don't like saying hi to a group, or if people are around. The few situations i get where i'm alone right by a girl as she's passing makes me think like i have to get it done right now.

Anyone have any advice for me, i have 4 days to get 50 hi's out:(

Man, ur right.

Usually when you say hi to a girl, she'll turn around and PUNCH YOU IN THE FACE!

So your doing the right thing by not saying hi. These "approaches" and stuff NEVER work, really the only way people meet each other is over the internet. Real Life interactions don't happen anymore.

GET WITH THE TIMES!!!

If your DETERMINED on doing this in REAL LIFE (sorry man but you'll never succeed, NOONE CAN!) then I suggest getting REALLY DRUNK right before your classes so you'll act a lot cooler in front of HBs.

Best of luck

This is good, keep posting. I'm in the same situation as you except I'm 18 and a freshman in college. If you do good I can learn off you. Your right hi's are hard, most of the time people won't say hi back, but there are people who do. Just do it and youll get used to it.

hi's ARE freakin hard!!!! ahahahaa! I'm glad i'm not the only one who felt that way. like ghaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!! but just get over it. i just tell myself my mission was to get hi's. that way, even if the girls don't like me, I still complete my mission and get tons of exp points and gold, and maybe a rare item of some sort *video game reference sorry*

you dont even have to be serious about it. sometimes im like "heeeeey!! how you durrin?" i think the point of this exercise is less about pulling poontang and more about breaking down your own mental barriers.

you got it broooooo!!!

Day 4-5?

Updates Updates..

The good news or the bad news..

Well the good news first..

Since i last posted my problems, i have felt a little more confident. I've started to have mental conflict with myself about ignoring that inner voice that tells me not to say hi to that random stranger..

So far, so so. I've managed to say hi to a few people by the elevator in my building, of course the girls probably recognize me from my floor so i'm not counting any of those yet.

Tonight i was walking around on a mission to get those hi's. Maybe i'm to picky. I was looking for a girl walking by herself, half way attractive. At this time of year(labor day weekend) it was tough. And i honestly couldn't find a perfect target so i aborted.. (people who've completed this, am i being to picky. Should i say hi to ANY female.. I refuse to say hi to guys though)

The Bad News:
Last night went out to the Jersey Shore. Tons of fly hunnies, and i didn't talk to any. Just chilled with my AFC friends. I may have attempted some drunk hi's but those too i refuse to count.

The next day we were on the beach, and right to my left are these 3 amazing girls. HB 8's at least. And i do catch some eye contact between us, but in my current state of dweebdom i did nothing but the occasional glance.

I really really really hope i can snap out of this by tommorow and get some legitimate hi's. 50 might take more than a week, but i'm on my own schedule..

That's all for now..

p.s.
I'm not really from the west coast, i'm just paranoid you could say..

The way I think is hang on ...I'm NEVER going to see those girls AGAIN so what harm can I do?

Say it:

"I AM NEVER GOING TO SEE THOSE GIRLS AGAIN."

Start slow - like you are. Give Hi's the first week. How are you the second week ...etc etc. Then you will slowly progress.

But remember. Just think you will never see that girl again so what harm can it cause?
