My lower body is too large, and upper body is too scrawny.

Hey. I'm experiencing a problem. It's probably due to genetics, but my upper body is skinny as ****, and my butt/legs are very large proportionally. I want a V-shape, instead of a *****y womanly pear shape. Is there anything I can do about it? I'm 6'2", and little over 160 lbs right now.

I deadlift, and bench press, but my bench is rather low.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? And has anyone ever experienced this before?

Post your age, training history and diet...

I'm guessing you're probably pretty young and don't really know how to eat/train appropriately yet.

Working on bringing up weaker body parts is something even us experienced lifters deal with. I've been doing this shiit for 12 years, and I still have tons of things that need more work.

Simply work your upper body for a more hypertrophy based program and reduce lower body work. There's plenty of solutions out there, you just gotta find a training/diet/supplementation program that meets your needs.

Are deadlifts good for upper body? Or will they just make my lower body worse? I know they work the back good but they work the glute too which I definately do NOT want at this point.

At 6'2" and 160 lbs you got a ways to go, just focus on gaining overall mass and everything will come together. Don't overthink it, just focus on getting strong on the basics, squats, presses, and pulls.

And deadlifts are the best back exercise there is, bar none. If you work hard on it, it will transform you.

Definitely agree with this... actually its like you took the words right out of my mind!

Nova, at 6'2" - 160 you're still quite thin, and can easily gain 60, 70 lbs or more in the next few years naturally with a good diet/supplementation plan and hard training. If you still have muscular imbalances when you're 220-230+, you can address these at that time.

As Shizz said, deadlifts are phenomenal for back development. They'll work pretty much everything on the back side of your body (your posterior chain)... from your traps to your calves. Yes there will be glute recruitment. Deads combined with wide grip pull ups and DB rows will give you a great V-taper. Also train delts w/ DB shoulder press and accessory work like lateral, anterior/posterior raises.

Work on keeping bodyfat in check (< 14%) while gaining muscle. I suspect your diet is grossly inadequate at providing you sufficient nutritional support to achieve your goals.
