Hey guys, new to the forum. been browsing this place for a good decade, tried to get off but it's just too damn addicting! I love getting game tips for all my plates from here. Thanks guys.

Posting this to the Anything Else section because it's not related to game, but i wanted to talk about my favorite movie Shutter Island. For those of you who have seen it, I want to discuss the ambiguous ending...

SPOILER ALERT!!!!

In a nutshell it's about a very suave detective (Leo Dicaprio) named Edward Daniels who goes to investigate one of many disappearances on an island prison for the criminally insane. There are 3 wards - A, B, and C for the most delusional patients. These people are suffering from multiple personalities and are in there for the most violent offenses. The most dangerous is Andrew Laedis who beat a woman (his wife) to death. The wardens are hoping that Edward coming onto the island would be the change needed to stop these disappearances and patients lashing out at each other.

But not so fast. Edward starts having withdrawal symptoms and exhibiting weird behavior. When you get to the end, the warden (named Neal) tells Eddie that HE is in fact Andrew Laedis, and they concocted this experiment to try to control his violent outbursts.

You also begin to wonder though, is Eddie a legit detective and the wardens are just determined to not let him leave now because he "knew too much" about the abuse on the island, so they drugged and confused him? There are a lot of allegories to World War II, showing Nazi "atrocities" (we all know the Jews were asking for it but that's another story), and you wonder if this is actually a concentration camp as the story takes place in 1955. At one point he has a full on interaction with a woman in a cave who actually didn't even exist. Crazy!

The moment I saw the trailer for this film i knew it would be excellent, and now for me it's legend. So for those who have seen it, what do you think? Were these just Nazis holding onto delusions of grandeur a decade after WWII ended, or did Edward concoct an alter ego where he convinced himself he was a high ranking "federal marshal" but he was really a mental health patient?
