For the more sexually adept among you, what exactly is a multiple orgasm?

I was in the middle of foreplay with my girlfriend last night, when she reached orgasm. I stopped touching her and rolled over while she calmed down. Then all of a sudden she started having another orgasm and began screaming and gripping my hand tightly. This went on for about 3 minutes, then she started shaking uncontrollably and buried her face in the pillow, and continued screaming for another 5 minutes. I admit I started to get a bit scared, as the way she was shaking made me think she was having a seizure!

Sometimes when we have sex, she can reach orgasm every 3-5 minutes and have several during one session. I just assumed this was what multiple orgasms were, but what happened last night was something else. I've never know this happen before and neither had she. She told me after that she just kept having orgasms one after another. Even though I'd stopped touching her she totally lost control, and it took her ages just to calm down and get her breath back.

Just wondering if any of you have had similar experiences and if this is what is meant by multiple orgasm? How long do they usually last once they get started?

Human female orgasm

In a human female orgasm, orgasm is preceded by moistening of the vaginal walls, and an enlargement of the ****oris due to increased blood flow trapped in the ****oris's spongy tissue. Thanks for the replies. It seems it was a multiple orgasm then, so I'll just share a few tips on how I achieved this for those who are interested...

Basically all I did was brush my fingertips extremely lightly over her body, starting with her neck and working my way down, spending a few minutes on each area. When I got down to her pvssy, I kept drawing my fingers closer, then moving them away and down her inner thighs. It's all about teasing her and building the anticipation. Then I lightly brushed my fingers over her cl!toris, paused, then did it again, gradually increasing the attention I paid to it and then the pressure and speed. I never inserted my fingers and I kept my touch so light I was barely touching her. Once she started to orgasm, I stopped touching her completely and that was it!

Another factor that may have triggered this is that I was lying at her side gazing silently into her eyes the entire time. She has told me before that she finds eye contact during sex extremely arousing (which is something she's never done with anyone before apparently).

And most importantly, have patience!
