I have American citizenship but have been living in south Africa for the past 15 years.

I'm pretty broke at the moment.

I'd have to sell all my stuff to get a plane ticket roughly R10 000.

My question :

Once I land in America I'm thinking Dallas, Texas. What should be the first thing I do as someone without any money?

Do I sleep on the streets the first night?

Do I go search for work? Would I even be hired if I'm homeless?

Is this a bad idea?

Thanks all advice appreciated.

You need to make money before you come. Why would you come to America just to be a homeless person on the street? This is a stupid plan. Ask backbreaker or cordon for a loan. They are the resident self made millionaires.

Isnt much easier to get a kickstart to your american life by joining the army for the minimum required time?

Not only you will manage to have a life in the states but you will be part of the biggest mafia in this world aka the american government, they will help you to get a job when you finish your service.

Im sure someone can give you some more detailed info about it, its surely a better idea than come as a random homeless.

Or just move to Sweden, those idiots give welfare and hospitality to almost everyone just tell them that you come from Africa before they see that you're white.

Dallas or Austin TX wouldn't be a bad choice. I don't have the answers to your question, other than you should secure a job and some place to stay before arriving.

I will say America has really become a land of no opportunity especially if you are white and male. There was still a lot of hope and opportunity left through the 90's, but the government administrations and elite destroyed all that.

I would really think twice about coming to America with little money and no connections. America is a dog eat dog, every man for himself, winner take all society especially now and especially if you're a white male.

You are moving to America during a bad time in our economy. It is thousands of people out here who are not able to find jobs and these people were born and raised in this country.

A lot of people who held jobs for years and getting laid off. If you must live in America then you should live in a homeless shelter, and find part time work till you get to the point where you can land yourself a cheap apartment. Also if you need transportation make sure you find yourself a motorcycle or invest in a bus pass.
