I was just wondering what you guys all thought about motocross/dirt bike riding as a good workout while your not lifting (perhaps for cardio?)

I have a Honda Cr125 and I noticed (just like when i got my street bike), since i havent ridden in a while.. when i ride, my forearms and fingers get extremely fatigued. Im hoping its because im getting an awesome workout very quickly.

Do any of you ride dirtbikes, and can possibly relate good or bad experiences with this as a form of exercise?

I broke my ankle on it at the end of summer, so im waiting impatiently to get out and ride again..

Thanks!:D

I race motocross and wuzzup is an idiot. Sports illustrated once did a study and rated motocross the second most physically demanding sport, behind soccer. So yes, as far as cardio, it's a great workout!

confirmation, wazzup is an idiot.
also I really doubt motorcycles and soccer are more demanding than boxing, wresting, or tennis.
riding is OBVIOUSLY exercise though. whenever spring comes around, no matter how great a shape I think im in, my @ss, hands arms, shoulders ache and im exhausted after a couple hours on "the beast".

hehe.. Awesome!:D I know now why i was in such great shape all through high school and i had awesome metabolism.. My major activities were Wrestling, Soccer, and Dirt Bikes!!

I need to get back into the flow..but man i tell ya, wrestling practice was pretty tough.. every day except sunday, heated room.. sweats (some were crazy and wore rubber suits!!), and non stop cardio.. then lifting.

I had a friend who went into the Marines.. and believe it or not, he told me that wrestling practice was tougher than BASIC..

As for Wuzzup being an iddiot.. im new here, so ill give him the benefit of the doubt for now..:p

I'm just spitting the info I read back at you. I thai box and I know motocross is harder than that. The problem with motocross is that any fool can sit on a bike and ride around and never get tired, but that's not really what we're talking about.

Charging whoops 3 or 4th gear pinned, whipping it sideways just so you can land set up for the next turn, seat bouncing, staying low, hauling a$$ is what the real question is here. So morons come on here and say "well I rode a dirtbike and it wasn't hard at all". Those are the morons that think it's easy.

I always amaze people with my level of cardio and everytime someone asks how, I say motocross. They never believe me, but I've been racing since I was 3... I know what I'm talking about here. You could even put it to the real test and wear a heart rate monitor and then there's no doubt. But that forearm pain you're talking about is arm pump. It's when your muscles expand so much in your forearms that it pushes all the oxogen out of them and causes that pain known only to motocrossers.....
