Hey Hey everyone...
I just wanted to share my story here, mostly just because I'm bored. I don't really care if anyone reads it, its just to entertain me for a few minutes. I'll try best I can to recall the trials and tribulations of my senior year of high school. Mistakes, good experiences and otherwise. So, without furter ado...
The Senior Year: Ups and Downs...
I was an AFC. I AM an AFC, but am learning how to deal with that. I began my senior year eager to start again, but unwilling to change my ways. I'd become very comfortable in the little nitch I'd made for myself. I knew of no person in the school that hated me, so I suppose I was a relatively likeable guy, but then again, I wasn't exactly Mr. Popular either. I had become used to this position over my 4 years, and was perfectly content to stay there.
Up to this point, I had essentially zero success with the female population of my school. There were several girls that had caught my attention over the years, but I never really followed through to any major extent. I never had a girlfriend. Never had a kiss. Only two of these girls I actively TRIED to get together with. There was an athletic girl who I asked to the end of year formal in eighth grade, and was rejected (she had already made plans... yeah...). Then towards the beginning of my senior year, I tried to get together with a girl from across town who I met through a play in which I was in the pit (theatre chick... too busy). Anyhoo, those were my two major failures, although I DID get a slow dance with the girl who I asked to the dance. I know however there were some girls who were attracted to me, because I got asked to 3 proms, without any effort on my part.
Anyway, let me continue. I was really chasing this theatre chick I met in October or so, for the better part of the year. I didn't approach the whole situation in the best way. I initated contact over IM, and told her I liked her through email. (Yeah Yeah, I know). Shockingly enough, she seemed moderately interested in me. I tried repeated times to find a time when we could get together, but her schedule was insanely busy. Plus it didn't help that she lived on the other side of town, so that never really worked out. She ended up going out with some other guy who lived near her.
It was at this point in the year that something FINALLY changed. I basically gave up on the high school experience. Didn't worry about girls at all, and decided I would have a new, fresh chance to reinvent myself in college. I began to become myself more and more around girls, which in turn seemed to draw more girls to me. I made a great girl-friend (who I wasn't attracted to at all) who helped me to decode the female mind. Then, unexpectedly, I was asked by two girls to the junior prom on the same day. (One was an HB3 and the other was at a 7, guess which one I went with...) I had known the 7 for a few year, and thought she was attractive, but never really thought much about it.
Anyway, we ended up going to her prom and my ball, and had a great time at both (danced all night... fell asleep together yadda yadda yadda). She was definately showing MAJOR signs of interest which I most of the time fail to see, but was finally picking up. We went on a few dates together until school ended.
When we had been seeing each other for probably 3 months or so, her friends started giving me a hard time about why I hadn't asked her out yet. I had given a little thought to this, but thought it would come about more naturally, and I was just enjoying our time together. I began to stress about this, because she is VERY close with her friends, and if THEY were going this psycho, what must she be thinking?
So, one night, about a week or so after graduation. She invited me over to her house for a late night swim. I finally had my opportunity. It was kind of chilly that night, but we swam anyway. For about 15 mins we kinda floated there, just talking and stuff. Then, after a little pause she says, "Don't just stare at me." and I go in for a kiss. I must say, that I could not imagine a more perfect first kiss if i tried, it sounds corny, but it was truly magical, and DEFINATELY worth the wait. We then have a little talk about exactly where we stand, and I finally make it *official*, and ask her out.
This is definately one of the coolest girls I've ever gotten to know. She's smart, she's funny, she understands my sense of humor... which is rare. Just an amazing person to be around. We just recently celebrated our one month anniversary. I drew her the chinese symbol for beauty and put it in a frame for her gift, along with a single yellow rose. Then I took her to the classic dinner and a movie. Afterwards she told me how amazing a night it was. She actually admitted that she cried afterwards, because it was so amazing. Apparently, after all these years of waiting, I actually have some romantic flare.
Well, I guess thats it. Nothing incredibly useful for anyone, but it entertained ME for awhile at least. Maybe at least this gives a little hope to those who need it. Oh, and remember GO BUCKEYES!!!!!
Oh, and 10 points for whoever catches the title reference...
(Hint: Its music related)
