Im going on a big trip to Japan this summer for 3 and a half weeks. I was wondering if any of you guys knew any money saving or making tips. Also, if you guys have any summer plans, share those to. Heres what I have done to save money

-Save every coin I have and transfer it to cash
-Have a job of course
-Wrote down how to divide my paychecks.

Thanks in advance for the tips. By the way, heres a funny story relevant to what happened to all of this

Well, Im desperate to save any coin I can find so I can put it in the bank . I saw 3 pennies right near eachother. Only they were between the legs of this girl who was making out with her boyfriend in the lunch line. I crawled between thier legs and got the pennies. They looked at me and I just saluted and said "Scuse me, commin through."

Last year I decided to walk the camino (I don't know how it is called in English, but in German it is called the Jakobsweg...a very old route for pilgrims) from Jean Piet de Port to Santiago della Compostela and since then I've saved a 100€ each month to finance the trip. i don#t leave the money in my bank account because it is safer when I have deposited at home (sometimes I just can't control my spendings...;))

I'm really really looking forward to make this trip...ah...spain...I'm already in awe! ;)

well based on my money plan. I already have about $115 in there. I planned to put about $175 total from here to the end of next month. Plus all the change I find will go in there to

One thing I do is keep a can which I put coin in (I rarely spend coin). When that ones' full, I'll start another one and keep going. When I fill up about five of them, I'll roll them up and take them to the bank. I usually end up with about $500

And hell, whenever I find change on the street no matter how small, I'll pick it up and add it to the can.

How long does it take you to get that much?

At this point you probably have a woman (or multiple women) chasing you around, calling you all the time, wanting to be with you. So let's talk about how to KEEP a woman interested in you once you have her. This is BIG! There is nothing worse than getting dumped by a woman that you really, really like.

Actually I've been following the advice desdinova gave.
Every day when i get home I fill the coins in my wallet into an empty box. After about 3 months it sums up to about 200€.

But maybe I should get some more boxes and surprise myself when they are full! ;)

Anyway, so far I saved about 1200€...that should be more than enough to pay my trip!

And yes! If you don't value small coins you find on the street, you just don't deserve money!

Depends on how far you live. Check something like Expedia.com or something

You're 18 years old; there's no reason that you shouldn't be able to save up enough money before summer to enjoy a vacation in Asia (depending of course on how you want to spend said vacation). When I turned 18, the first thing I did was get a credit card... then book a plane ticket to Amsterdam for the week after. I came back and started paying off the trip. 9 months later, I had it paid off and had enough saved to go again... so I did. Sure, it wasn't the most mature thing to do financially, but when you're that age it really doesn't matter - it would take a lot to get yourself into such bad straits financially that you couldn't recover.

In any case, saving coins you find on the ground (under a dime in value) is really pointless in my opinion. Now, I do have a 5-gallon jar that I'm filling up with my own loose change but if you plan on saving enough for a trip based on how much you'll find on the ground that day you might be able to afford Asia in around... 40 years. Oh, and since you asked about summer plans... on April 22nd I'm flying to Paris for half a week, then Amsterdam for a few days, then bumming around Europe for another week or two... might be bringing my girl along, but that's still up in the air.

No. I divide my paycheck in half for the trip. The coins are just a bonus
