Here's a little rant from the new guy Snobby, hope you enjoy it.


Well I haven't been here long enough, but it has come to my attention that this forum is FULL of flaming and attacking, or making fun of other people. Sure I am guilty for it as well, since I could not resist with the guy who bragged about his good looks (obviously I have a thing for snobs), but I never insulted him to the extreme or used profane towards him.

All I see in at least half the threads is people telling other people to **** off, insult them, call them names, attack them, poke fun at them, and so on. And I must say I am not pleased with the moderation of this forum...at all. No action seems to be token, or if there is some moderation done behind the scenes it is not enough. There are countless of threads that need to come to an end. For example Pirate's thread should have been closed long ago, and yet it is still running. And even 10 times a bigger number of posts that need editing or deleting. If I was some emotional guy that gets offended easily, I would just log off for good and smack my forehead asking myself why I even joined. But it doesn't concern me to a big degree. I do think though that people can be nicer and refrain from the flaming and personal adults.

Basically I'm just asking the forum moderators and the admins, the ones who have the power, to get a bit stricter. It is like a jungle in here for some reason. Of course no moderating buttons can make all the difference if members themselves don't try to get along. You don't like someone, refrain from quoting him, or even more effectively, add him to your ignore list! There's no reason to insult each other. We're here to get rid of our wussy selves that do all the wrong things with women, and to understand the psychology behind women best and improve our personality in that field. Bashing each other doesn't help at all, apart from make other people feel bad.

I want to know how many people see it the way I do and agree with what I said. If you think I don't have a point and I'm missing a few points, please say so. All replies are welcome, but I would appreciate it if profanity wasn't used towards me and I wouldn't be called any names.

I told MetalFortress to do this, I doubt he has. It's a game to a lot of people. The reason there is so much flaming allowed is what you said, Moderation. If Mods started to really crack down, deleting crap, putting temp bans on people, moderator controlled postings, flaming would come to a grinding halt.

Free expression is welcomed, but of course, we all have seen how far that is left un-enforced. Good post, hopefully it'll get noticed.

The problem is this. There's a huge focus on psychology when it comes to dating. Everyone here talks about being "alpha" etc etc. Guys talk about taking control, negging, generally getting the upper hand with women. Now the problem is that guys are extending that to how they deal with other guys. While, in REALITY it's sometimes useful to make another guy look like a chump to boost your own social value in the eyes of girls who are nearby, guess what, the only woman here is Wyldfire, and I don't know why ANYONE would want to look good in her eyes.

I think the bottom line is, guys should stop trying to AMOG eachother all the time here. You're not impressing anyone, let alone women, and you're not going to become an alpha male on a dating forum.

I'll admit this forum is definitely one of the worst when it comes to things like this.

A lot of people don't consider this stuff to be insulting, among themselves,they consider it playful banter. Where is the line drawn when it comes to being playful with a person?

Yes, many people don't care. But there are ones that do, and they will fight back. I can understand playful insults between people that you know, but there is always someone ready to insult some random person for a thought or a counter-argument to something. It is THOSE people that cause the problems we so readily see on the boards.

It's not a moderator picking and choosing who can and can't insult, it's either a ALL can insult or NOONE can. Those are the only two options moderators and administrators have in controlling these things, and at the moment, that's why there's no bans or warnings bering given.

it comes and goes here and at some point in time, any member here will feel belittled about something. usually thats ok because it will pass, however from time to time someone ends up banned.

I'm quite used to the "potshots". That one was mild. On another thread stevera yet again called my children "b@stards", took a shot at my deceased fiance and the like. Not too long ago I got a 1 month "vacation" for responding to those kinds of personal attacks on not only myself but my 5 year old child and the man I loved who was murdered. None of those who made those personal attacks and posted the vile trash was punished equally.

I have zero respect for the administration of this site now because in my own personal experience the TOS is either not enforced at all or is enforced in such a biased way it's laughable at best.

Everyone who treats me with common courtesy receives the same treatment from me. Those who make personal attacks learn very quickly that I'm going to give it back to them.

Oh, I've complained quite vocally many times. And no, nothing is ever done about it. It's really quite sad too because when I came here my overall view of men was extremely positive. I can't say that still holds true. My view of men in general has been severely and permanently damaged because of this site. That never would have happened if the TOS were enforced fairly. It's really too bad. I used to stand up for men who were falsely accused of abuse and harassment not only online but in my community. I no longer do that because my trust in men has been completely shattered thanks to this site.

No. When mods become a$sholes who threaten people in PMs, abuse their mod privelages, and violate TOS by instigating flames against members and calling them homos (then getting them banned once they retaliate) - that's when people want to see a mod lose his duty. I've never seen anyone wanting to demod Paradox for example, only Gio. And a good thing he's gone, not like he did any work anyway. Most useless mod this site has had.

There's so many people who'd make great unbiased mods (i.e. Warboss Alex in fitness), but they wont be given a chance. Or bring Eternal back, he was a machine.

Honestly? I'm here more as a concerned mother than anything else at this point. I have two teenage sons, a 20 year old daughter and an almost 6 year old daughter. I've seen a very disturbing trend on this site that I'm trying to counter as much as I can.

There has been an influx of older guys who have gotten sucked in by some very radical anti-feminist thinking who are poisoning a lot of young minds here. There is a right way and a wrong way to teach teenage boys and young men about how feminism can be harmful to them...and those guys are teaching the wrong ways. They're teaching young impressionable males to hate rather than be aware and productively resist. In the long run, this trend is really going to harm a lot of the young males on this site...and it's going to get them into trouble, handicap them with intense anger and make it impossible for them to succeed in relationships or life. I've tried numerous times to start threads on this particular subject, but those very men who are poisoning this site always come onto those threads, disrupt, attack and get it shut down or deleted. I think some of the guys on here are starting to see the same trend and more of them are speaking up. I'm also hoping that if I do manage to make a difference and prevent the serious damage that has been taking place that it might also help reverse the damage that has been done to my own views of men here as well. I really don't like having a negative view of men. I'd much prefer to have a positive view of them. One thing is for sure...my view of them can't get much lower at this point, so I'm thinking the only way to go is up from there.

I absolutely agree about Gio. I haven't seen much from the new moderators, but diablo, in my opinion, is the most fair, impartial and consistent moderator. I didn't care for Eternal's moderating. He had the bad habit of needlessly locking and deleting good threads because he openly admitted he didn't feel like dealing with those who were intentionally disrupting because they wanted to get the threads locked. I recall starting one thread where I actually forced myself not to react to all the personal attacks. It was still closed because the usual suspects were purposely disrupting to get it locked. That's the policy that pisses me off to no end. If someone is going to volunteer to be a moderator then do the damn job right or don't volunteer. A lot of people only want to be a moderator for the title and then are lazy as hell about doing the work.

After awhile you just give up reading the main board. I've only seen a few forums as active as this which dont have the same problems. The power of anonymiaty goes to some peoples heads. Even when I see a post on here that annoys me on a serious level I find it best to just avoid it. IMHO, I think that anything that is easily found in a search or in the bible should be deleted. Diablo bombs the main board on occasion and does just that. Thats a full time job if it is really going to be enforced though.

On a sidenote, does this site have some type of specific mission statement? I would like to see that, or how that has evolved over the years.

write allen and tell him you volunteer your time to be a mod for the next available spot
