Modding a 98 ford explorer sport-

Planning on doing alot of traveling in the next few years and i need something powerfull and reliable. The car is slow as snails stock, it's has a really tight gear ratio so it would be awesome if it had more power.
it's a SOHC 4.0 V6,Planning on an intake and full exaust system,headers- the works;cams shafts, cam gears, ported intake/exuast,high stall torque converter, grill guard etc.

does anyone know of a good company that makes Superchargers for the Ford Explorer Sport 98 model?
it's 205hp stock, estimating amywhere from 250-260hp after some modding, but that's still only at the crank, at the wheels it's probaly only 220hp tops :( not trying to build a drag car or anything , but i still want something to rape cameros and mustang on the highways. Say 400hp tops...maybe 500 :D

Well, whatever you do, don't lower the body at all. There's nothing sillier than a low-rider SUV. SUVs are designed to go off-road, and low-riding makes that impossible.

If I may digress...if you like the SUV, that's great. You should keep it. However I can safely say that probably 80% of SUV owners have no business using an SUV when a sedan, station wagon, or 2WD pickup would do the job. If you don't go off-road, then why would you need an SUV? Okay, end of digression.

it's my moms car and she's letting me have it, it's paid off and i need something to get around the U.S. in.It's slower then snails,i could give it a tune up-but it's still a slug. Plus it doubles as a camper if i ever need to pull over and sleep somewhere-What could be better? no payments, nothing to pay off-all i got is insurance and gas to worry about, which leaves more money for other things (clubs, beer, girls:D )

It's possible. Someone like that has a reason for an SUV. What annoys me is people who live in suburban communities, never ever go off-road and rarely have harsh weather (like AZ).

I never thought of that. It's something that never happened to me. But I suppose it might be better than trying to sleep in the back seat or leaning back the passenger seat (Not the driver's seat because you don't want to press the gas pedal accidentally while sleeping. I heard that does bad things.).
