As some of you already know, I've been in a bulking phase for the past couple of months. After a while, I noticed that I was getting the sh!ts pretty bad on a regular basis. (More than usual anyways) I've come to the conclusion that the high grams of carbs mixed with the high protein is the cause. This fvcking sucks ass dude. I'm about to go out to a bar and guess what, my ass is dropping atom bombs!

I'm just wondering if any of you have experienced this or have found any ways of dealing with it. I'm getting pretty desperate here.

Your replies are appreciated as always. :D

its excessive protein intake. it means your taking in to much protein at the same time. carbs should have nothing to do with it... unless your taking in like 50g of soluble fiber a day(which would have you ****ting)

my advice.. cut down the protein you take in at each meal. especially if you use alot of whey protein.... its really fast acting. so if you take it and **** within 30 mins then you know you are taking in to much

How much protein is too much? I'd heard that 1.5g per lb of body weight is about right for each day... meaning if you weigh 200 lbs, you should take 300g protein...

From my own research and experiences, 1.5g/lb is way too much. I'd stick with about 1g/lb of protein.

from 1 - 1.2g for every pound of bodyweight. Maybe you can take in more. Maybe you can take in less. Nothings set in stone.

You essentially upped your VALUE in her eyes by showing her that, if she wants you, she has to at times do things that you like to do. You are SOMETHING after all. You are NOT FREE. If she wants to hang with you, it's going to cost her something — time, effort, money.

1g of protein per lb of body mass is just a "rule of thumb" (more of a guideline than a necessity). Obviously a pound of adipose tissue will have vastly differing protein requirement compared to a pound of active muscle tissue. Though their are many factors to address when trying to calculate protein requirements, it is best to start small and gradually increase in small increments rather than eating half a kilo of protein per day "straight off the bat".

To support growth, a rule of thumb would be to eat 10-15% more overall calories than what is required for maintenance, and from there adjust caloric and macronutrient intake. This *relatively* little increase in calories allows for a more gradual increase in active muscle mass and reducing gains in fat as much as you can without inhibiting growth.

So start off by increasing protein requirements by 10-15% - if you eat 100g of protein daily usually, then only increase by 10-15g to support your anabolism.

Diarrhea could be due to excess protein or fibre consumption, or even other factors such as medication (anti biotics) or a particular supplement you are using. Make sure that you eat sufficient fats in your diet aswell as fats are more essential for supporting growth than carbohydrates, aswell as other positive factors such having a high nutrient profile and lowering digestion/ absorption rates of other macronutrients such as carbs and proteins.

yeah. I said start off with that, maybe you can take in more, maybe you need less. Either way, ****ting it out is much less beneficial than not eating quite enough, realising it, and upping it slightly. The whole point basically being to start off low and increase until the numbers are right. I just didnt spell it out letter by letter ;)

Unless you're made of money. In which case, who cares.

[btw, you've made some scientifically solid posts right now, keep up the good work!]

I'm not going to change my protein intake. Do any of you know if my body will get used to it or not? I got the ****s right now.

I guess I could start drinking 20g shakes instead of 40g.

Yah well you do know excessive protein will make you just as fat as excessive carbs right?

And its not 1g/lb of bodyweight.... its 1-1.5g per pound of LEAN body mass.

Your LEAN body mass is what you should be basing your calories off of.

btw you shouldnt have more than 1-2 shakes per day(post workout and maybe another slower acting protein shake for convenience) stick to real food.

Dude, you asked for advice, and we're giving you the most likely idea. fact is, your body can only process so much protein in a given time.

Try and spread the protein evenly throughout each meal then. Maybe you're having, say, 20 at one meal, then 40 the next... make it 30 30.

*shrugs* just tryin to help. Maybe it's just a slight bug you've picked up for a while.
