Do you think men in the past (say pre-1960) in America had it easier or harder with women?

when you look at ppl, like your grandparents I think they were less shy, more DJ than the guys today and girls were less materialistic, more down to earth.

Agreed! The materialistic and superficial thing keeps guys from being a DJ today and approaching them.

Also women back then had more respect for themselves and others than present time.

It was much better for MEN back then, it was OUR WORLD. Then came birth control pills, feminism movement, cell phones, internet, email .. and it made it easier for women to REACH out.

Unfortunately, while many men desire to return to the "alpha male" theory - we have to change.. not through metrosexual or what we wear/dress that is a plus but we have to become more... emotionally sensitive to women.

Hell yea

Our world wasn't feminized back then. Male and female roles were much more defined. It wasn't cool to be gay/lesbian like it is today. The society has became absolutely androgynous today!

I hear back then you could hit a girl over the head with a stick and drag her to your cave.

everywhere,nowhere
there were less ba$tards back then.
i am guessing this of course.
less dead beat dads and more father figures around
doing their jobs (or trying to) to raise a young man
and teach him the things required to be a man.
fixing things, taking care of buisness , doing for yourself.
how to respect a woman without worshipping her and
giving your ball$ to her.
the old days required you to take care of your buisness
with the familiy if you had one,go to work bring home the
bacon.
it just seems like everyone is lost nowadays in terms
of anchoring themselves to an identity.
and instead of our fathers and uncles being our
models as successfull adults we look at eminem
and 50 cent or whatever icon there is in the media.
which is nothing wrong with that, but we still ALL need
positive male role models in our daily lives.

guys like this are still around..
look at guys like Russel Crowe,Bruce Willis or Mickey Rourke
in the media.
absolutly no excuses for their masculinity at all.

there was this one guy i knew at my work that reminded me
of the old alpha male archtype. he just kinda did whatever
he wanted and he made NO excuses for himself.
he was ****y when he felt like it and he always had
a better answer for everything. you just felt like he had
"control of his world". he could be a prick at times
but when it came down to getting the job done and
dealing with problematic customers , he did it was a coolness
and understanding of the other persons needs more so
then any of us could, were everyone freaked out-
he kept his cool.
when we would try to thank him ,he'd just smile-
smack us on the back or sock us in the gut playingly
and say-"don't worry about it..you owe me a soda.."

Back in the stone age they used to have cars with holes for their feet and ride dinosaurs to work, I saw it on the teevee.

OMG, some of you are delusional ...

Men in the past had it way way harder. You're lucky to be living in the era you live in now. In the past, like 200 years ago, you pretty much had to be a nobleman (meaning you were wealthy) if you wanted to get an attractive women. And even then, she was probably a courtesan (a fancy word for prostitute).

The problems we're having are recurring problems that all men face. Don't delude yourself into thinking our generation is any more "AFC" than any other.

Back then if you wanted a serious commited relationship. Guys had control. Girls are waging a war now. Barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen. Not out in there lexus with a gps cell phone and her credit card. I miss the old days personally. Pushing a girl down a flight of stairs if she cheated was encouraged.

Men in ye olde days...let me see:

First, if you weren't born rich, you were doomed to a life of misery. Have fun being a farmer for the rest of your life.

Oh yeah, women were committed, but that's because they had no choice - the condom wasn't invented. Unless you were born into the nobility (less than 1% of society), you marry any woman you f*ck.

Every few years, a war starts and your home gets destroyed. Don't like it? Tough.

Hmm, let's not forget if you were black in USA, your life would be kind of sh!t.

And let's say, by some fate of miracle, you survive all that sh!t, you would die at the age of 30 from disease or famine.

Yep, great times.

Yes society is messed up. Look at how many women are easy and $lut themselves up for clubs and bars and on tv. But then stop and think there are just as many attractive women that aren't like that and choose to stay in rather than going out for a booty call at a bar or club.

When you look at it 50 percent of women want a relationship like 30+ years ago and the other half want a booty call.

The tough part is meeting the "good" woman that doesnt frequent bars and clubs. Thats where you have to polish your skills for bookstores, grocery stores, laundrymats, coffeeshops. Some of the most giving, horny and professional women are there for an LTR, if thats what you want.

We dont have drive ins or slow dances like 40 years ago to meet good women. They may be out there but it is few and far between

true.

same thing with marriage, it was a lot more complicated to marry back then, in western countries at least.

the general evolution for society has been that everything has to be easier and faster and more accessible, which is a side effect of the consumer society.
