Selena Gomez:

I'm not ashamed to say, 'I actually require X, Y, and Z for you to be with me,'" the 31-year-old said. "So in a way, it was just meant to be for the attitude of the song, and that's genuinely what I feel."

- Selena Gomez says we live in a world where "boys confuse standards with being high-maintenance."

- On Wednesday, the 31-year-old spoke about her dating life on SiriusXM to promote her new song "Single Soon."

- She added she's not ashamed to tell people they have to meet certain requirements before they can be with her

Hard to say without actually knowing what those high standards of hers are and who she is in real life. But then again, don't think it matters. Having certain standards is a good thing as long as you live what you preach aka walk the talk.

So yes, we've heard all it before: Be that which you want to attract.

Now to the actual dilemma, having dating standards and being high-maintenance are two different things. So not sure where the confusion comes from, at least in my mind.

I always hope women have standards, because that requires less maintenance on my part.

As for Selena Gomez, I don't know much about her, but she is a celebrity and influential on social media, so I assume she just wants to date a male of equal value. Doesn't sound like a ridiculous demand to have standards.

I'm pretty sure she has Lupus so I don't think we're looking at the rule but the exception here.

Also she low key has a beyonce level following, this woman could say pretty much anything and drum up sympathy

So... what are you saying? She has lupus so she shouldn't have standards? Don't date Selena because the breakup will be very public? Anything else?

Tell her a little about yourself, but not too much. Maintain some mystery. Give her something to think about and wonder about when she's at home.
