May I Have This Dance?: Good things to say to get a girl to dance with you

I've never really liked the whole "grab her by her waist and 'hi, mind if I rub my **** against your ass while not saying anything?'" type of approach.

So, sometimes I say "may I have this dance?" with a "I'm pretending to be suave just to be funny" face as sort of a classy/corny/funny way to do it. It breaks the ice, is different than what all the other guys do, and works better than just awkwardly sliding my hips against her butt... (i.e. less rejections), but not as well as I thought it would. Mainly cause it's hard for her to hear and I have to go right up to her ear to say it, which freaks her out.

So... any better ideas? Sometimes I just go with, "hi" but I'm looking for something better.

Don't worry about it. I wouldn't ask her to dance. Just go out, have fun, and dance. or not dance, just do whatever you think is fun and if she wants to dance with you she will, if not, then nobody cares.

The whole bumping into a girl and dancing thing is much easier. But I can imagine the "May I have this dance?" *Cheesy suave pose* would build some instant attraction. Couple that with an elegantly outstretched hand and bowed head and you have yourself a winner

If you want less rejections, develop rapport with the woman FIRST. Don't do it on the dance floor, do it when she goes for a drink or when she's talking to her friends.

Then when a song comes on, say "let's go dance!" and drag her ass onto the dancefloor. If she doesn't want to dance, she'll let you know :)
