After deciding It would be more appropriate to start a training log in the H+F forum.

I've had a stint at bb.com to try and learn as much as I can, and got fed up of being ass raped by skinny teens who know jack ****.

Me.

6'2
182 lbs
13-15% BF.

Did Rippetoes starting strength for a while, some good gains.
Then, after listening to the recurring theme for teens: 'Heavy Compounds', Im doing just that.

Squats 3x6-8
Military Press 3x6-8
Incline Bench 3x6-8
Lat Pulldowns 3x6-8 (Would do chins but have a weak back).

Deads 3x6-8
Lateral Raises 3x6-8 (Wonder what this could be replaced by)
Dips 3x6-8
Close Grip Bench 3x6-8

Bench 3x6-8
Hack Squats 3x6-8 (Love these)
Pullups (palms towards, can do a few) 2xFaliure.
Pendlay/BB Rows 3x6-8

HIIT stationary bike on off days, and rugby/judo throughout week.

Any advice/changes/tips would be most welcome and I will post updates on M/W/F.

RIPPETOES -IS- HEAVY COMPOUNDS

Squats 3x6-8
Military Press 3x6-8
Incline Bench 3x6-8
Lat Pulldowns 3x6-8 (Would do chins but have a weak back).

Deads 3x6-8

Pendlay/BB Rows 3x6-8

ROUTINE HAS GOOD IDEAS BUT YOU'D DO BETTER OFF WITH THE ONE IN WHERE TO START, OR STRONGLIFTS.COM STRENGTH ROUTINE

HIIT stationary bike on off days, and rugby/judo throughout week.
NEITHER HIIT NOR RUGBY/JUDO ARE PARTICULARLY CONDUCIVE TO MASS GAINS AND WILL LIKELY HOLD YOU BACK. GO FOR STEADY STATE CARDIO AND STOP THE SPORTS FOR A WHILE (MAYBE HIIT ONCE TWICE A WEEK)

Any advice/changes/tips would be most welcome and I will post updates on M/W/F.

Bearing in mind I'm 15 with a teen metabolism I eat whatever I can see as long as its not high in sugar.

I try to aim for 200/250 grams of protein a day, supping with shakes If i dont reach the target with whole foods. No carbs after 7, and a good breakfast, porridge, eggs, bacon, and **** load of toast.

Forgive my sillyness but could you explain why HIIT holds you back? Not quite sure why. Wouldn't any cardio hold you back then?

at your weight go for 300-350g protein and then stuff yourself with whatever. try to emphasise quality food over junk but some fast food won't kill you.

Eat buddy... it's not hard.

Get in 3000+ calories(few people actually calculate, you'll be surprised if you count up your own diet), from protein(40%) + fat (40%) and carbs (20%).

It's up to you really.

warboss, are you saying that for a teenager wanting to gain muscle, as long as we're getting enough protein, we can eat pretty much anything?

i mean, obviously not all just junk food... but do we really need to worry about a specialized plan?

i also have a super high metabolism and am a 3 sport athlete and am looking to gain weight. recommendations?

You do the samething as everyone else, eat a lot of food, get strong on compound lifts. Your 3 sports and high metabolism will make weight gain tough. What 3 sports are you playing? This must mean your never in an offseason? You need a period of time without sport to add this weight. Then when that time comes you need to eat big. My friends little brother was sort of in the same situation and during his offseason i had him eating 2-3 double whoppers a day, eggs, whey, steaks, ice cream, , milk, cookies, french fries, olive oil, everything to get that scale moving cause of his high high metabolism. You may not need this though not sure how high your metablosim really is.

football, wrestling, lacrosse...
but im willing to give up wrestling to have a building season, or "off-season".
im looking to build for football and lacrosse, but i want to maintain and gain speed as i gain weight.

as for my metabolism, i dunno what to tell you except that i just DONT gain weight. i have a little since i started lifting and increasing my appetite (go figure) but not by a lot.

if you gave up wrestling how many months would you have for an offseason(not pre season either just a pure offseason) between football and lacrosse
