I was talking to a smart chick at a party who happens to be a self proclaimed feminist. She was average looking but she was one of those nerdy types. I told her my view on how chicks have tendencies that can be considered weak. This includes manipulative behavior, lack of integrity and herd mentality (typical SS topics discussed about women). She brought up a good point. She agreed with me the modern female in the United States is quite messed up. She attributes this to socialization not biology. But she stated that men also exhibit maladaptive characteristics. She made a case that men’s aggression, and proclivity to violence is something that is not admirable either.
She made the point that men using violence to resolve disputes is just as repulsive as the low quality female behaviors. I pointed out that men handle stressful situations better and don’t resort to crying and plays for sympathy as often as women do. She made the counterpoint that in the long term crying and complaining (venting) is probably a more effective reaction to stress than stoicism.
The point is that she kind of convinced me that a lot of the hard core misogyny is unwarranted. That both sexes have their faults. Even though I still think women have less admirable character traits, after speaking with her I am less hardcore of about my chauvinism. I don’t know some days I try to be less misogynistic and critical with the female sex, and then other days its hard to justify their behaviors. What do yall think?
ps i try to avoid using the term misogyny when i can. most men here do not have hatred of women. We just recognize that there are differences. I think male chauvinism is a better word.
