Hey,
I have recently acquired some good musclature and people are realising it too. I have gotten quite a few comments about my muscles and I am very glad about that.
However, I myself am rather blase about it, and I don't make a big deal about my muscles and I don't run around flaunting them and I don't deliberately tease girls using them.
Maybe I should though, does anyone here think I should be hyping my msucles up more? am I getting the best use from my asssets?

No, don't flaunt your musculature. Would you run around telling everyone about your new car or your high paying job? No, because you'd look like an idiot. It's the same thing here. You just come across as a bit of a self-obssessed twit (called "Muscle Mary"s over here), and give the rest of us a bad name.

You don't need to flaunt your muscles. They're there, a silent but obvious indication of power, confidence and discipline. A noiseless presence yet anything but unnoticeable. If you've got muscle, it's there for all to see regardless of whether you tell them to see it or not (and also regardless of whether you wear t-shirts three sizes too small or not). Just like the cool car, you go out driving in it and can be seen in it - if you tell people about it on top of that you just seem like a berk.

What Alex said.

If you brag about your muscles you'll look like an idiot. If you are legitimately muscular, people will be able to notice when you're fully clothed (in clothes that are actually your size) and not drawing any attention to it. I'm not at that stage yet, and people still notice my improvements even though I don't go showing them off, just like with you.

The average-sized guys in the gym are the ones who flex their muscles and growl at everyone who looks at them, while the biggest guys are also the nicest and most humble. It's because they know they don't have to prove anything to anyone, which is the attitude that you should have in every aspect of life.

If you want to talk, talk to your friends. If you want a girl to like you, listen to her, ask questions, and act like you are on the edge of your seat.

Yeah, if you've got a fit, muscularly defined body people will notice-and likely acknowledge it in one way or another- without you having to say anything. It's okay to occasionally talk about your hard work but if you draw too much attention to yourself "Look at me! Look at me!" then you'll come across as an insecure idiot or self absorbed, etc. Just be happy for happiness' sake.

yeah, what the other lads said. I've heard it best phrased before, if you're muscular, you need to pretend you don't notice that about yourself. Otherwise you just look like a dumbass douchebag.

you get lots of "muscle boys" in this country (especially this town, haha) walking around with their arms offset from their body...I've heard it referred to as ILS...Imaginary Large Lat syndrome ;)

this vid rocks btw: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=4JMOh-cul6M How NOT to be :D

Like everyone else said, don't be a tool. If you have good musculature, good work! But running around telling people and showing people screams "I'm insecure but since I have some musclezz will u accept me???!"

No one likes insecure people, so just be content with who you are and focus on other people rather than yourself.

A good way of doing that is this: Whenever you're out with somebody and it comes to a time where you'd normally start to "flaunt" your muscles, instead start to focus on them and who/what that person is. As everyone knows, people like to talk about themselves, so if you show interest and curiosity in them, it makes them feel important and they naturally gravitate towards somebody who does that.

On the other hand, if you flaunt yourself, it makes them think you are conceited and not much fun to be around.

what is annoying though, is when people make such big fuss over your muscles that others think that's all you care about. 'Oh my god, blah blah blah,' naturally you laugh it off and act suave and sh1t but over time the ones that are jealous find little ways to irritate you while saying good things.

Although I agree in principle with what most of the guys are saying I think you should do what YOU want. During the summer I mostly wear tank tops when its hot because that's what I'm comfortable in. Ya, I get a lot of looks and some comments, but none of it is really negative... most of it is pretty funny: like when a bum comes up to you and is like "your' HOOOOOOGE" (I weigh 165 lbs or under when I'm in photoshoot shape), or like when dudes are like "dude you're really built and really skinny at the same time" and they get all shocked when I tell em how much I weigh! I do get really flattered when I get complimented from a guy who's more jacked than I am.

If you're in pretty decent shape consider stripping... that could be construed as "flaunting your muscles" to an extreme degree in some ways! During stagette season you can easily make 2000-2500 cash working 1-2 nights a week for basically partying with girls some of whom can be really hot!

So in summary...I think to flaunt or not flaunt is a personal decision. I personally don't really care what people think of me and I wear clothes that I'm comfortable in.

Tell her a little about yourself, but not too much. Maintain some mystery. Give her something to think about and wonder about when she's at home.

I fail to see the point of videos where the people are bigger or stronger than I. This does not invalidate the scores of people that are still smaller and weaker than I.

Everyone is self obsessed. Some people are just bad at it and are more concerned about short term comfort (eating potato chips and sitting on the couch) as compared to long term (going to the gym and eating properly).

And i don't know if you guys have noticed but culture is moving towards talking yourself up. Look at rap. Look at basketball. Look at football. It's ALL about talking yourself up and people love those guys for it.

I personally hit a homerun or whatever I just walk off like it's nothing. If I scored a touchdown I'd just set the ball down. "Act like you've been there before." But look at professional sports nowadays.. or even college. All they do is pat themselves on the back and people LOVE those annoying ass touchdown celebrations... and all that high stepping bullsh1t after an interception or whatever. If it was really looked down upon they wouldn't do it.

That's true but this is entertainment. If rappers started rapping about how they aren't actually that rich, how they have only been with a few women, or how most other rappers are better than them, that would be stupid and nobody would listen to it.

Those crazy touchdown celebrations are just entertainment. If these guys are as arrogant in real life as they are on TV or in music (which many of them probably are), they wouldn't be cool to hang around with. Not that it matters because they are celebrities and idols anyway so they can be as full of themselves as they want and everyone would still love them.

I see what you're saying, I just don't think it's a good measurement to compare the attitudes of athletes and rappers to those of normal people. If a lineman sacks the quarterback and starts strutting around flexing his muscles, it's cool and funny to watch, but if a normal guy walks around at a party flexing his muscles he is probably a douche.

yeah it would be good if most of those kind of rappers would start spreading a better message and stopped bragging. So retarded and you'd have to be a complete tool to buy their cd.

I like what WBA said. Be comfortable, be you, don't go around like Johnny Bravo flexing infront of everyone. We all know Johnny never got laid...or did squats for that matter

You essentially upped your VALUE in her eyes by showing her that, if she wants you, she has to at times do things that you like to do. You are SOMETHING after all. You are NOT FREE. If she wants to hang with you, it's going to cost her something — time, effort, money.

Yes, and that's a good thing if it gives the internal drive/motivation to make yourself the best you can be.

But we all know about Captain Orgasm or Mr "Wears TShirts Five Times Too Small" at the gym don't we.

haha, that 2000-2500 is per month when its busy, and its once you're relatively well known in your neck of the woods by the agencies. Depending on demand you can make more or less. You can make more if you travel and do shows in smaller towns with a male revue crew, but I don't travel anymore. The most I've ever made in one month from just dancing is around 3500...but that included one night where I made 1200 from doing 4 stagettes in a row. Its tough to schedule 4 stagettes in a row like that.

Use marketing tools like the yellowpages, kijiji.com, etc to market yourself. I charge 200 cash per show for shows that I book myself. A show is basically 20-30 minutes of "work"/"working it" ... depending on how you look at it :D

Not sure what the scene is like where you're from, but look around for agencies around your area. You'll need costuming and your music, but that's not hard to get.

Good luck...its the TOUGHEST job you'll EVER have! :D
