SIXTEENTH century Filipino women were sexually active and even loved the Spaniards, according to Antonio Pigafetta, the Italian chronicler of Ferdinand Magellan.
Pigafetta’s journal of Magellan’s expedition in the Philippines in 1521 was published in a book recently released by the Italian Embassy in Manila in commemoration of the 75 years of Philippine-Italy diplomatic relations.
“The women loved us very much more than their own men. All of the women from the age of ... years and upward have their vaginas gradually opened because of the men’s penises,” Pigafetta wrote in Italian.
