Hey guys,

As some of you may know Ive been bulking for the past 4 1/2 months or so, and, so far things are going great.

But ive one prob, i have gained a LOT of fat around my lower stomach area BUT i dont wanna cut up just yet - i wanna get to 190lbs before i cut. Im 169lbs now.

Any comments/help/advice?

Thanks

I've had the same problem and based on my own experience, I'd recommend that you start cutting now rather than later.

I've been cutting for a good 2 months, trying to get rid of a spare tire I gained from bulking and I'm looking very lean at the moment everywhere except for my lower stomach. I actually have a "4 pack" and a slight spare tire?! I'm getting there, but it's taking a lot of diet and cardio!

I wish I had started cutting much sooner. It's hard maintaining muscle over a cutting phase of 2 or more months and I'm having to weight train 3 days a week and cardio another 3 days. And seeing that I've reduced my calories, I'm completely drained every day from morning to night.

Another reason I say cut first before ever bulking is because most people will bulk properly, but cut improperly, and lose a lot of their gains. At the beginning, when you're still new to itall, it's best to do a clean bulk.
I took this from another thread since he makes some very relevant points.

I still look big, but in a more flattering way. The big difference since cutting is that I look less bulky and have more of a defined "triangular" shape to my body - slim torso, broad upper body.

Cutting is definitely harder than bulking, but very rewarding!

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

hey what do you guys do to cut. I don't really like diesel's advice not to be disrespectful, but I think it is for the really fat people.

anyways can you please post your cardio plan or whatever you do? like do you jump rope and stuff? so please post whatever your cutting routine is. my diet is great I think I just need to amp up the running. thanks.

I have a boxing timer that I got from Title Boxing and you can set it to 2 or 3 minute rounds with 1 minute rest in between. I do my cardio to it and I set for the 2 minute mode. This is what my cardio routine looks like,

2 minutes skipping rope
1 minute of mountain climbers
2 minutes of skipping rope
1 minute of burpies
2 minutes of skipping rope
1 minute of mountain climbers

And from there, you can add as many rounds as you want. But this simple workout usually leaves me sweating and really breathing hard. It's almost the same feeling that you get doing wind sprints.

I tried following Diesel's guide too, but it wasn't working particularly well for me so for the last month (excluding 2 days at xmas) I have been following a very similar diet plan to the one in this guide:

http://www.fatlosstips.com/

It's strict, but I feel like the fat is dropping off me. I do, however, take more multi vitamins and I drink more protein shakes after a work out.

As for cardio, I just use an exercise bike for 10-30 minutes per cardio day. That's just convenient for me though. There are definitely better cardio routines.

I plan to cut back on carbs and do HIIT 3 times a week. Maybe thats dangerous, lack of energy and all - went for two meals last night without any carbs and felt so weak!

Wil my shoulders and arms stay the same size?

I also have a question/query...

Hey all...

I am 18 years old, about 175m tall, and i weigh 65kg, which is lihgt for my age, but i AM really thin, except for my lower stomach (where ur 6 pack would normally be) has this flubby fatty stuff which prevents my 6 pack from showing, and when i sit down etc it makes me look fat... i do about 200 crunches every day, i run for 1km, and i do about 30 minutes of boxing a day, i play alot of soccer and i body-board...

Now when i stand up, i was told that i have a "sexi" body, but i could do with a 6 pack.... for the past year or so i have trying to get rid of that excess "fat" on my lower stomache and i just cant seem to get rid of it, and i hardly eat at ALL, i am a health freak, i wont touch potato chips, anything oily, white bread, ANYTHING fat i dont touch!

So i guess that what i am asking is... What can i do to get rid of that excess fat on my lower stomache and make my 6 pack stick out?

My abs are really strong as it is, because i have been working them out alot, but they just dont SHOW because of that excess fat... under my ribs i have like a "2 pack", but where that "4 pack" is meant to be, there is excess fat that i dont know where it came from, or how to get rid of it... So if you guys could help me out here, iu would really appreciate it alot.... let me know;)

Thanx in advance...

Laterz...

dont cut back on the carbs. If youre active like that, your body's gonna need all the carbs you can get.

Hey Dough boy!

If you just carry on, most of it will be fat and won't look bulked, you'll look like an out of condition fat man. If you don't want people shouting the above, take heed.

Also you need to understand the concept of periodization. Even super human bodybuilders and powerlifters don't carry on gaining and gaining. They work by cycles, plan their year, consider 4 x 3 month cycles with a buildup first month to your previous best lifts.

Basically you are being greedy with your gains. Ease back on the training, ease back on the food, consider building up on the strength for a few months.

Patience is definately a virtue here.
