I have an acoustic guitar and I'm looking for some songs that will sound good with just an acoustic since sound effects require an electric. I'm preferably looking for some blues songs since I've only been playing for 4 months now and there good to start on, plus I like the blues.

get a bob dylan songbook his songs are the **** as far as acoustic goes.

an easy song to learn that works wonders with the ladies is put your lights on by santana ft everlast (the little hammer-on/pull offs on the chord are ****in hot)

i bet if your a young cat and you learned the latest john mayer hit you would have girls creaming in your lap as you showed them how to finger the chords

sublime is the **** too. just find something you like. chances are, if its popular its probly not impossible to play (not including old popular stuff like hendrix)

cant say im much of a blues man but what i can recommend is just learn your basic blues scale and move up and down and improvise (thats what the pros do)
blues scale goes like this(if i remember correctly)

e-2-5---------------------------------|
a------2-3-4-------------------------|
d--------------2-4--------------------|
g-------------------2-4-5-------------|
b--------------------------2-5--------|
e-------------------------------2-5---|

Thanks much, I'll keep an eye out for some of those songs. Though to be honest I never really listened to John Mayer's stuff.

What I've noticed is songs that sound good acoustic will usually sound good electric as well. Nirvana proved this with their unplugged album. There's nothing wrong with learning songs that are like this, and a lot of good blues will prove that the electric sounds equally as good on an acoustic.

Don't necessarily stay away from blues rock. You might find yourself a real gem in there. Also, don't be afraid to write your own tunes.

Go find yourself the Electric Warrior album by T.Rex (which I'm actually listening to right now). The whole album's good (except for the last song) and is quite bluesy.

yeh but you usually have to rework the songs a bit, the strumming usually needs to be cut down, lots of arpeggiated notes, acoustic style is different from electric...when i play acoustic versions of songs played on electric guitar theyre usually sorta different
