I have a workout plan that requires me to add 5 minutes to a fast paced walk on the treadmill every 2 weeks, by the last week i have to be at 45 minutes on a treadmill, now my problem is i simply dont have the patience to walk on a treadmill for 45 minutes on 4.0 speed. Hell, i couldnt handle to 25 minute walk last night...what are some alternatives to fast paced walking, i cant stay on a treadmill for 45 mins, i will be bored out of my mind, i listen to my ipod and watch the football games they have on, but i still cant stand being there that long, especially at a slow pace.

Do it for less time but at an incline.

Or put weight in a backpack.

Or both.

Instead of 45 minutes of easy cardio, do 10-15 minutes of HIIT.

For me I bumped the treadmill speed up to at least 5 and I run it. The Ipod is a lifesaver but it does get boring at times. I find a few things that help keep your mind busy are the tvs, checking out the other people there, or just focus on where it will get you.

What I've been doing for the past 3 months.

It'll burn more calories and you won't get bored easily. It might be more exhausting especially if you're a few pounds overweight but you'll love that rush you get when you finish. Especially if you take your shirt off :D

What workout plan is this? There might very well be a reason why it's WALK instead of run.

Because for one, running is crap for strength and mass gain. But yeah this guy didn't say anything about those things. But if he already has sprint days his plan might very well be using the walking days for active recovery where it would be stupid to be running.

Sounds just like my routine. If it's boring, my best advice besides what I already said is to just grin and bear it.

I'll tell you how I lost 10 lbs a month.

20 minute cardio in the morning, preferably before sun rises and heat starts. At times even 5 to 8 minutes of running and the rest is walking. Every day.

Weights every other day, 3 or 4 times a week. Full body workout.

Proper diet. Common sense foods with good protein to fat ratio. (think tuna's protein to fat ratio)

The stuff personal trainers tell you doesn't come close to what Holocaust survivors went through. Plus it don't work in my experience. You get bored, you give up, and loose. While that lame stuff I did above worked just fine. You loose 10 lbs a month. You never hungry. You never think about food, or think about skipping exercising. It's the easy stuff that gets results.
