I've always wanted to make an inspirational post..Now I'm going to do it! Why? Well, I'm glad you asked! It's because I'm still here!

A few hours ago I was driving home from a friend's house. This requires me to cross a fairly dangerous railroad which has no gates or lights and you can't really see if a train is coming because there is a huge factory in the way. I came up to this crossing and slowed down a bit. My windows were open and I though I'de be able to hear if a train was coming...I was wrong! Right when I was on the middle on the tracks I heard a loud whistle and looked to my right - Coming right at me is one big train hauling a lot of ass! Time seemed to stand still and I thought for sure I was hit..I put my pedal to the medal as fast I could and peeled out. I just made it! I looked back in my mirror and figured that I was probably only a little less than a foot or so away from getting hit! If I was a fraction of a second slower I could be laying in a morgue right now...

Man if I can think of anything to describe what it looked like it would be the train scene in The Fast and The Furious...

So Lazarus, what's the point?

I'm a man on few words and this is already way too long for me!My point is that we can't take anything for granted! We need to go out and live it up! Like that HB that sits next to you in chemistry class? Talk to her! Ask her out! Go out there and live your life the way it was meant to be lived! Have some fun! That's what life is all about! This changed me....I haven't done all of the things I've wanted to do in life yet, and either have you! You're not going to get those things done by sitting at your computer! Go to the mall, for a run, to a party(and if it's the same one I'm at, I'll buy you a beer!) Live it up!

Well I'm off to go have some fun...I've wasted enough time sitting around already!

Hey,
Nice story. I had a similar thing happen to me. It wasn't a train though, it was a big truck. I was walkin home with my friend and we have to cross this somewhat busy street. Well i looked both ways and there was nothing coming for as far as i could see both ways. So i step out to cross and this big white diesel comes out of nowhere going probably 50. My friend yelled at me to move and i barely got away in time. Like you said Lazarus if i was only a fraction of a second slower I'd probably be in a morgue. Well i thought i'd just share that too. this really showed me exactly what you said so LIVE IT UP!!!!!

Exactly Boono! I'm glad you're still with us man.

I'm now convinced that everything really does happen for a real reason! A good friend of mine died in a car accident...The car barely had any damage, but he was dead. My cousin gets in a wreck and totals his car. But he practically got up and walked away. I don't know why things happen the way they do, but as long as I'm still here I'm plan on living life to its fullest.:D

Yeah, I guess you're right..This has been said a thousand times, but it's never been said by me! ;)

Plus I thought I put a unique perspective as to why to go out and do the things you want. :D

Well I'm here to tell you there is such a magic wand. Something that will make you almost completely irresistible to any woman you "point it" at. Something guaranteed to fill your life with love, romance, and excitement.

Exactly! I personally don't think that you can ever say these things too many times; and as each writer is individual, people should take each of these "Live it up" type of posts as sights to a person's life; how they've changed and why. And, as written by individuals that have had their individual experiences that have led them to think these things, each of these posts will provide the reader with new sights of the world and themselves; and, even subconsciously, I believe that reading these posts that seem alike and yet are not alike at all is never bad for you - not even if you think that you've heard it before.

An interresting story, Lazarus.

You know, last weekend I had an almost similiar experience; I was driving home from a countryside warehouse where I had held my drums (now I was bringing them back to town because our band is starting to practice again). I was driving WAY faster than I should have - 130 kilometeres per hour on a road where you can drive 100 km/h at maximum. If I was afraid of anything, then the cops - I would have lost my license temporarily if they had caught me, plus I would have been greatly fined. Altough I should have known that cops never were my greatest threat on that road trip. I had just crossed a hill when suddenly, out of the blue, I see a huge deer running straight towards me, and not even far away from me! I also saw that I could not dodge to the next lane, as a car was standing still on that lane. I could see the pale white face of the driver and knew immediately that he had also been really close of hitting the deer.

So I simply put my foot on the brake pedal, knowing quite well that there was not a chance in hell for me to get the car to stop before hitting the damn deer. As most people who've taken physics classes know, stopping a car from the speed of 130 km/h takes about twice as much meters than stopping a car from the speed of 100 km/h. Luckily for me, the deer dodged just before I hit it (I was still having a 50 km/h of speed, which can be lethal).

I didn't like the experience very much...

But I can't say that it wouldn't have made me feel alive, either ;)

Thank you! I couldn't agree with you more - People get something out of these posts whether they realize it or not! Nice story...It could have been fatal, but it ended up changing the person you are (even though you might not realize it)!
But I can't say that it wouldn't have made me feel alive, either
I know exactly what you mean. The closer to death we come, the more alive we feel! If anyone knows why this is, I would definately like to know! :)

Remind me not to let you drive... Or at least not to drive in your cars. :p
It has happened to me about four months ago. I was walking across a street crossing, half into my thoughts when I realized this huge army truck was going my way, doing 55 mph at least. I believe I missed it by mere inches. That sure was a close encounter.
Sh*t happens, you know. I consider it more of a message from God; something along the lines of "Stop slacking off and start living your life right now." Take those messages seriously, guys. You'll only get a handful of them until you really get hurt. (And I surely hope you don't.)

Very true man! It looks like a lot of us have come pretty close to getting killed.
"Stop slacking off and start living your life right now.
That's sort of how I look at it too! Things happen for a reason.:D

Amen to your story Lazarus. Never take time for granted, when you sit down and think about it everyone has about 80 years to live. I sit and think "Wow, if I have 80 years then I only have 63 left..."

Regardless I'll probably end up killing myself. Last night I was doing 90 on a dark country road in my car. Took the winding, twisty bends at 60+ miles an hour. I dunno, the speed makes me feel alive. Call me stupid, but I just love the sensation of flying down the road and pumping music. It's hard to understand unless you're a car enthusiast/speed freak.

Create self-fulfilling prophecies. Always assume the positive. Assume she likes you. Assume she wants to talk to you. Assume she wants to go out with you. When you think positive, positive things happen.

We'll only live to be 80 if we're lucky, and we got to make the best of the time we have left! I know what you mean when you say you like to go fast down country roads while pumping music. I'm known to do that every now and then :D

You can imagine how hard it is for me, I drive a pretty well modified 98 Camaro 5 speed. It's addicting :D I think my car just begs me to be driven above 60 miles an hour :p

reminds me of autumn last year. i was crossing the street and this guy picked me up on the hood of his car. it wasn't that much of a life changing experience, as he was probably going like 5 mph around a turn, but i still think this is cause to live it up as well.
