Is this DJ acceptable? I know you're not the girls therapist, but when it's your girlfriend and she has a fight with her family..is it GOOD..BAD..or OK to listen to her problems and try and help her.

I usually try and keep it short but show some support. But earlier she just kept talking and going on about it..it really bothered her. What to do?

Thanks

Depends, do you always follow the DJ idology? It's personal choice, if you think it's of benefit to listen and comfort your girlfriend..(as I would think...), then why the hell not...?

I'll wait for the rejection of this post.

Being supportive by listening to her problems is definitely something you should do in a LTR. Just listen...

But the helping her out with her problems is not part of a DJ mentality. Its her problem - she has to deal with it so you don't need to be her therapist.

Concentrate on making her feel good, even if it means distracting her completely from the problem. 'Change her mood not her mind' :)

...This is the reason why she has female friends, she can go to them to vent her problems .

If there is anything you can do to help her sort this out, you should. Since this is a problem dealig with her family it is a big issue so the least you can do is listen. Besides, if this is a LTR it could turn out to be your problem too.

In my opinion it is bullsh!t that you shouldn't listen to your g/fs problems when you are in a LTR. The only thing you need to do, is determine wheather or not this is really a problem. If not, try and help her see the bright sight or make her see it's not that big a deal. Even try and distract her or cheering her up by doing something fun so she can forget about it for a while.
