I'll be damned if I stay couped up in the house all summer.

I deleted all my porn movies. Yes, all 60GB of it. I uninstalled all my PC games (some sport games and RTS), and I actually put World of Warcraft into the microwave. I haven't played it in the longest time, but I never want to return to it. I also got rid of AIM... I figure if it's anything important they'll call me.

Next up my X-Box 360 with everything I've got for it goes on E-Bay. But I'm not posting it until I find out the shipping charges. I posted about this a few weeks ago, and it's finally sunk in that I'm not the gamer I once was. I feel that I've missed out on some great moments, only to chase down orbs on skyscrapers.

At 23 the time has come to say NO MORE. I'm good looking (every girl tells me I look like Colin Farrell, except that my hair is short, not messy). I've got a secure job and a nice car (not that it matters with meeting women). I'm smart, funny, athletic thanks to Jeet Kune Do, and people generally enjoy my company. Not that I'm tooting my own horn, but I'm going to quote a line from A Bronx Tale: "The saddest thing in life is wasted talent."

I doubt you'll find a girl who's 5'5" 110lbs with killer body who's got DD's popping out of her shirt sitting at home on a weekend watching comedy central re-runs pigging out on Doritos talking on her Sidekick. Now that's not me per se, but pretty damn close. Something on the tube, food at my PC desk, talking on AIM, most likely with some porn in the browser.

I'm better than this. I should be out like a rock star. I should have a different girl every few days. These are the years memories are made. 10-15 years from now I should look back and say those were the good ol' days. I should have stories, not as many as Walt Disney, but still... They sure beat X-Box achievements. BUT I don't except for some scattered stuff here and there.

So that's basically it in a nutshell. Today I change for the better. Wish me luck.

I've been there too... well it was a few weeks ago! I gave all my games away and got rid of porn. I started working out again and got a job too. The only thing I need is a car, but I'm gonna be a freshmen in college, so I'll probably get it next year. We should keep each other in check.

why?

everything is fine in moderation

There is only so much getting out and stuff you can do.

Plus you have friends... what better to get amped up on a Friday night before you go out than by kicking someones ass in NCAA football?

I even watch porn... maybe 1 or 2 times a month when I am horny and i just dont' feel like calling someone over for whatever the reason may be.

the trick is to not let it run you.

Glad I'm not the only one.

Sometimes it just hits you. In my neighborhood there are a decent amount of high school kids, and I think the girls next door are freshman in college. I don't know... I moved here 4 or 5 years ago and never bothered to meet them because they were too young. 10:50 on a Saturday night, and you know what I hear and see? NOTHING. Why? They're all out! (I would be to but I head to work in a little bit.)

I really hope this self intervention works. But I don't see any reason why it shouldn't. The only thing I have to fight is my mind telling me "Mike go get this game", or "Mike download this clip of Jenna Haze taking it in the ass" lol.

I tried this once before and it didn't really work. But I was younger then, and I was naive. With the examples from my first post, I've go no reason to be in a rut, no reason to be depressed, and ABSOLUTELY no reason not to have a betty in my passenger seat (or the backseat for that matter).

Do not be too easy. If you are too easy to get, she will not want you. If you are too easy to keep, she will lose interest in you. If you are too easy to control, she will not respect you.

the key is to have balance in your life.

you jack off and play video games because right now that's what is most im portant to you... and you will relaspe if your prorities don't change. I have a PS2, PS3, Gamecube, Wii and an Xbox 360 and i might log 5 hours a month on them. however I make sure I am never board.. but I'm not living myd ay to get home and put in Madden to play all night I have better **** to do.

Of course, things are fine in moderation. But sometimes you get yourself in a rut and the only way to kick yourself out of it is to clean house.

The last time I did this it was AMAZING. I was 23ish, just like the OP. I had lots of dreams and goals but i was in a rut working the bar and partying every night after and I finally said "FUKK THIS" and focused on getting myself ahead. Spent the next year of my life doing things I'd never done before and avoiding the things that were holding me back. the rest is history....

LOL.....just thought of something. The internet didn't even exist back then so 60 gigs of porn weren't an issue for me.

Just thought that was funny. And it was only about 12 years ago. Man, how things change.

Tell her a little about yourself, but not too much. Maintain some mystery. Give her something to think about and wonder about when she's at home.

On these matters I am always reminded of the film Confessions of A Dangerous Mind, the introduction of which was chock full of life insights.
When you are young, your potential is infinite. You might do anything, really. You might be Einstein. You might be DiMaggio. Then you get to an age where what you might be gives way to what you have been. You weren’t Einstein. You weren’t anything. That’s a bad moment.
It's one of my favorite quotes, it's so true, and it's a quote I always try to remember when dealing with this thing called life. Be someone.

My father tells me take everything in moderation, because too much of one thing isn't good. I'm sure I'll play video games again, and I'm sure I'll see a porno again. But right now, I'm going to enjoy my summer without them. Being a hermit is no good.

Dude, in 10 years you will be 33. 33!! Life is over for any American guy who is still living in America at that age. That is when you go into Super Dad mode. Become one of the many emasculated dudes following their sagging wives while holding hands with their bratty kids. So sad, but so true! You see them at chain restaurants in the suburbs of America on the weekends. Damn, I love seeing such misery. Gives me a warm happy feeling deep inside. It is kinda like the sweetest revenge possible for a one time dud like myself. Studs at 23 and old men by 33. You gotta love America circa 2007!

Feels weird not going on AIM to check peoples "status", or firing up some PC games. On the bright side I waxed my car instead. ;)

I stopped video games all together too. I'll sometimes play if I'm at a friend's house and we're getting pretty bored, but I have none.

Good job Eccentric, I hope you follow through.

Got my ass back into Jeet Kune Do.

What a confidence booster. Not to mention it's great for stress relief.

This might be working!

Well your more likely to be tempted to do the thing if it`s near u. I would def start playing games if I had those installed on my computer, but since I gave it all away I haven`t played games. I did this cuz I think video games is a total waste of time, I think like alcohol it`s fun socially but when u do it alone... it`s kinda stupid... u don`t get anything out of it and you waste money. You`re better off finding a better hobby like sports. You could have bought something more useful with the money u spend on PS2, PS3, Gamecube, WIi and Xbox 360 lol that`s like 2 grand... u could have bought a motorcycle!

You sick f'ck! lol jkjk I totally agree with the US males thing. You`re so right! After 30 most US males get married to any old American hag... few years later most American men start to gain weight and eventually grow a beer-belly. They become so out of shape that by 40 that they have to take 10 pills a day and viagra from CVS. If the husband is PURE AFC, sucks in bed or have impotence the wife will cheat on him and prob divorce him...takin his kids and half of his hard earned cash with her. Once the male turns 50 he turns into a cynical assh'le trying to make everyone miserable. He will vote against modernization and will die from high cholestrol or blood pressure.

Another thing that really entertains me is... when I see American AFC men married to a fugly Asian chick. Asian chicks marry white men for cash and green-card... it`s not LOVE or anything like that.
