ive been lifting for about a month, im one of those lean guys with high metabolisms so i read the bulking up thread n thats what ive been doing. its just some days i feel burnt out, and this isnt once in a while, its at least 1-2 days a week. i always eat well and even when i get 8 hours of sleep sometimes i just dont have the energy i do on other days. on some machines i can max them out, other days i cant even lift it (i focus on free weights, just an example). ne tips or suggestions on how to keep your energy levels up?

That's one possibility. Another is mind over matter. Try concentrating or getting in the right frame of mind or maybe music will pump you up.

I find upbeat, high energy music just pumps me up for working out or playing sports eg. Ludacris - Move B*tch

Do you suffer from depression, or are bored or something? Do you sit still alot? Are you stressed?

i've noticed my energy increasing if i take carbs straight before workouts; sugar form is best, but even complex carbs are good

when i get really tired in the gym, though, it usually means i need to take a week's break from lifting. every 8 weeks, i take a 1 week break.

and a bit of trance can't go a miss :D

Handful of trail mix - or some dried fruit about 20 mins before you hit the weights.

That's if it is an energy issue.

lets see, sometimes im stressed, but not too much, especially when i work out, i tend to be pretty relaxed. im a laid-back kinda guy and i tend to only be concerned with the present, so no problems there (tho i tend to procrastinate more then i should). i dont have depression or nething like that, so it sounds like a food issue. i started eating a LOT more, and the past few days i havent had a lack of energy, so i guess i wasnt eating enough. the handful of trailmix sounds like a good idea, so ill try that also. getting myself pumped up also helps, so thx for the replies guys. just needed a slap in the face to remember things i should know.

You might drink a cup of green tea before you head off to the gym... its great for you and has a little caffeine which might help.

I like to listen to pretty heavy rock (Godsmack, Flaw, etc... ), which helps keep me pumped up...
