Well Johnny Damon used to play for the Red Sox and was one of the faces of the franchise. He was a free agent and went to the New York Yankees which are the arch enemies of the Red Sox. So that should explain it.

Here's what's going on for those of you who don't know. Johnny Damon played for the Red Sox. The Red Sox "rivals" are the New York Yankees. The Red Sox fans hate the Yankees players and fans and vice versa. That's just a little background for all of you.

Johnny Damon was traded to the Yankees last week. The Yankees fans hated Damon when he played for the Red Sox, while the Red Sox fans loved him because he was a vital part of the Red Sox organization. Now those feelings are reversed because Johnny is a Yankee.

To sum it all up, all of Boston hates Johnny Damon for betraying them and signing with the Yankees.

Well, Since I have lived in both New Jersey and Mass, I can see both sides.

Redsox fans hate the Yankees more than vice versa. I think this stems from jealousy that the Yankee organization has had so much more success than the Redsox.

I personally cannot stand Redsox fans and depise players Wells, Schilling, Manny and Trot Nixon.

Redsox fans hate the Yankees more than they like their own team, which is quite sad.

As far as Damon being hated by Yankee fans, I do not know if that is too accurate. Yankees fans disliked those Redsox players who got all over A-Rod (Damon was not a part of that).

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

Adding to the feeling of betrayal is that, IIRC, Johnny Damon once said "I'd never sign with the Yankees."

Apparently, Johnny Damon likes putting the Yankees' money where his mouth is.
