Do recruiters often use unethical methods to lure in job applicants? I mean that they lie about the job contract duration period to entice job seeker to sign up to contract. My recruiter lie about the job contract with me. It suppose to last a month but it ended in 2weeks.
It really piss me off.I am going to the recruiter office to give them a piece of my mind and teach them about ethics. :trouble: :trouble:

They'll usually lie about compensation as well. They obviously don't care about whether you stay in the job or not. They care about whether you get in. They get a commission based on whether you get in or not. Don't believe what they say. They're in it for thier own interests, not yours. Sometimes, they'll tell you the job makes a lot more money than it really does. That's why you should take all the offers and look at what you have. A job offer isn't a job offer until you see it in paper. I usually verbally tell the man I'll take the job and then I change my mind as soon as it's given to me in paper. A job offer isn't a job offer until you see it in paper. I remember there was a recruiter that seemed like he would help me. The moment he found out that I didn't get the job, he just left and didn't even call back. That's absolutely unprofessional. Be grateful that the recruiters got you the job, but don't take the first job that you get. Wait and look at your options. Recruiters and monster.com gets you only the junk at the bottom end of the jobs. The best jobs are the ones that don't need recruiters. The best jobs are the ones that you have to apply to. And don't bother yelling at the recruiting office. They don't care. What was the name of the recruiting agency?

Why do employees at the company stare at me strangely when I work on contract? I dress according to business standard including being well groomed too. I sensed a supressed hostile attitude from them. The job isn't even a union job either. Can someone explain to me this strange behavior exhibit by people?

What was it that they lied to you about?

Seriously, they lie to you about something, than eople at the job treat you differently. Least you could do is take advantage and tell everybody else your getting ripped off and they have more benefits than you do.

PS What's your job title, what do you do, what's the *snicker* dress code?

They lie to me about the company A offering the job but when I saw the contract, it was different company. I told them WTF ? what happened to company A, Leitch. They gave me contract for Tarion company, a canadian warranty company. Quantum said Leitch offer me a job and I should come to their office to sign contract. I was so happy to work for leitch but contract was for Tarion. That's why I was pissed as hell.

Well that's not what I expected. Got a few more questions for you. I'm not a job recruiter, but I'm young, so HR, PR, and unethical practices, and job recruitment are something I have to learn about.

How do you get a job that only offers 30 days of employment, and if a contract expires for two weeks pay can't you just call the canada WCB, and get them to get you the other two weeks you were promised?

I received a $2500 dollar check for a scam my ex-boss tried on me, took them like two weeks to call the government and have it taken by force. Took another two weeks to get the other cheque. Right now I'm waiting on word about the taxes he never paid the government for my taxes and instead sucked up his nose and burnt off spoons.

Are Leitch and Tarion sister companies? What did they poromise on the site that wasn't opffered in your contract? Did the recruitment company send you anything in writing?

...What was the job market you were aiming for, and how did your qualifications match up to the seperate job offerings?

Men frequently err by talking too much. They often monopolize conversations, droning on and on about topics that bore women to tears. They think they're impressing the women when, in reality, they're depressing the women.

I am not familiar with labour laws. Tarion and Leitch are different companies. The contract is for 1month. Should I demand loss wages for layoff?

I was aiming for IT market in network tech support. Leitch job was much more interesting than Tarion. I went to interview at leitch but I was nervous. Leitch interviewers thought I wasn't knowledgeable about skills.
I was suspicious of Tarion in first place because Tarion didn't bother to interview me. Tarion basically ask quantum to send a temp person over there. Quantum told me the contract might be extend beyond 1month by Tarion. However, Tarion decided to cancel it after 2weeks. I was dam angry as hell. They mislead people about the job duration. The contract mention for 1month.

Do I have legal right to demand loss wages?

What kind of scam did you boss tried on you?

YES YOU HAVE LEGAL RIGHTS TO ASK FOR EVERYTHING YOU DON'T RECIEVE THAT WERE PROMISED TO YOU!!! Go find a lawyer today and explain your problem. THe court houses and community assistance centres around toronto should be able to tell you if you have any case(You do 100% if you signed a contract). Small claims court you can fill out a form and have a letter sent to Tarion tomorrow for your lost wages. I think small claims is anything under $5,000 and I don't know your contract agreement, so it's all up to you... lol, if you lived in the states you can make up so many bullsh!t stories, I wish I could file for mental bereavement in Canada I'd be a millionaire.

As for how my ex-boss gipped me... read if you want to below.

I worked upwards of 100 hours a week, and he was having staffing problems so he started doing the paper work full time and working on the floor.

He'd give me my cheque than tell me he was going to give me my pay stub to show my deductions, hours, and over time. He NEVER gave me an yearly breakdown of my pay. I was working 7 days a week from early morning to night with a long lunch in between so I could exercise.... So I wasn't always thinking straight. He wasn't always around when I was thinking straight... the floor ran the business, we made the deals, we called for contracts, we arranged for meeting times, among other things... We began to wonder what he actualy was doing.

Turns out he was doing drugs, reason he wouldn't show up at times for four days... Once he ran away to Vancouver for two weeks without telling anybody, another time he withdrew all of the money from his bank account and booked a private jet and stayed there for a week until the police found him.

Reason I stayed through his miscomings was because... The job paid great, I made over a grand a week plus food, vehicle, and a VERY social environment. (Made 4 FB's at the job)

I'm having fun writing this:D

The job went downhill fast after he lost his largest contract "ON MY DAY OFF!!!" and my hours were cut down to 20 a week. I asked for my vacation pay and he called his contract provider and had ten blank return forms shipped to him for his own personal use(He told us he only recieved two of them) I received one, and my accomplice received the other.

Well we went to court to find out what he got from us... turns out he was docking our pay, never paid any taxes, and was splitting our cheques and recombining so he could save even more on taxes before paying us, while charging us the full amount. Bilked about $35,000 a week from all of our cheques...

Since than he's gone bankrupt, the government is going over his papers now, and surprisingly, he was able to transfer ownership of his side ventures over to the care of his brother(smart guy, one of my DJ idols). Apparently, he was so busy and stressed at work because the first 4 years of business he paid no taxes, NONE... and now, we've just found out that he paid none of OUR taxes in the last year either. (My friend got a call from a collection agency telling him he owes $24,000 for tax evasion and his account is now accumulating interest at 8% per month)

We've all got a class action settlement case against him right now...

holy cow , flippinfreak. You have a serious problem on your hand. If he ows you $35, 000, I think you should get lawyer to get money back. small court is too much headache. I might have to get a lawyer for myself too.
I can't believe these rich people doing drugs. They just don't have any discipline at all. They don't deserve that kind of money. we as hard worker deserve that money.

I don't know about Canada...but the U.S. has the Better Business Bureau. You should report them to the equivalent agency in Canada.

The canadian better business bureau is pretty weak. They closed several offices in major urban centers where it is need by the people. These dam recruiters are like parasites hidden in sheep clothing. They suck the blood out of you before you know about it.
