Jews dating Gentiles

Sorry if this subject seems off-topic, but I think it might apply to some DJs, too and, to my knowledge, this topic hasn't been discussed, yet...

I had my heart broken by a man who would not/could not be with me seriously because I'm not Jewish (unless I converted to Judaism) although, supposedly his family loved me and I suspect the whole scenario is about to repeat itself again with another guy.

Has anyone here had related experiences they could share? I heard that Judaism is inherited from the mother's side. Am I correct, then, in assuming that it's more important for a male Jew to marry a Jewish woman than for a female Jew to marry a Jewish man?

I have Jewish friends whose parents pressure them to find Jewish mates so I know that it's definitely an issue... But I was wondering how any Jewish guys on this board feel about this topic?

Would you seriously consider a relationship with a girl who wasn't Jewish? Do you feel obligated to date only Jews?

eh, what the heck, I'll answer this... Short answer is that it depends 100% on the man, the family and their background, and you can't generalize.

My parents care not, and I am actually not really looking for a Jewish girl, but on the contrary... But that's off topic... My last girlfriend was Catholic and when she went to church every Sunday I was glad that I had that time to myself lol. But, I wouldn't discriminate or generalize against Jewish guys, but if you get closer to a person you can always probe him, same way as my ex-gf probed me and when I told her that I don't care.

not jewish, but have several friends who are....i agree with brod, depends heavily on the family.....most of my jewish friends aren't really into their religion....they eat pork, don't go to their temple, have gotten married to girls who are not jewish

I live in a part of London with a high Jewish population, grew up amongst them so know a bit about the culture. You're right that Judaism is passed through the mother, so it's more of an issue for Jewish men to marry Jewish women.

But it all comes down to the individual. Some mind, others don't. Some would think conversion was a good thing, others wouldn't accept it.

Just be aware that this can be used as an excuse. I have known Jewish (or Catholic, or Muslim, or Hindu) men and women to fool around and date people of other faiths (or none) always knowing they had the 'get out' clause of needing to marry someone of their own religion.

Not only on guys, but on girls too...

Cuz one time... I was with this girl who was jewish.

I asked her one time:

"If you were not jewish, would you go out with me?"

She said a YES. She also said that she hates jewish men because they are spoiled brats (she had an ex bf who was jewish and was the "worst bf a girl can ever have") but... no choice for her... or somethin like that.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Do you mind if I ask why your friends said that "Jews will break your heart"? What were their experiences? What led them to this conclusion?

It seems like a generalization... But one that, like all generalizations, has some truth to it...

It's actually rather ironic, considering that one of my (female) Jewish friends is always paranoid about how guys don't want to/can't get serious with her because she's Jewish. It seems that it cuts both ways, doesn't it?

What were their experiences?

One of my buddies been telling me about his officemate who is jewish.

She has an Italian (Catholic) husband...

Her parents disapproved of her relationship with that Italian guy. She was keeping that relationship SECRET for three years until it came to a point where she was desperately in love with him and wanted to marry him.

And then the usual issues with her parents...

She got so pissed off that she run away from home to marry Mr. Catholic. She was still allowed to keep her religion, tho.

Because of that, her parents DISOWNED HER. As in GET AWAY! As in BANISHED for all eternity from their family. As in they don't want anything to do with her again.

My experience:

That jewish girl I was with... She has a tale of two ex-boyfriends.

First ex = Jewish. but is a "spoiled brat" and she hates his guts up to now... and every time, she makes comments about how small his d!ck is... But her parents were THUMBS UP to that guy... just because he's jewish.

Second ex = Italian Catholic. According to her, she liked this guy better... not self-centered spoiled brat but he's just a suicide freak. The guy was a gentleman and very kind and all... but parents THUMBS DOWN to him and told her to break up immediately with him. You see, Jews and Catholics have issues... Jews call Jesus Christ another man who decided to start his own religion... but Catholics think that Jesus is God and blame jews for the execution of Jesus Christ.

One of my buddies (a black guy) IS a Don Juan... Athletic, bodybuilder kinda type... very polite gentleman... a lot of black chicks like him... ****y and funny, etc... etc... etc... You get the idea...

From the start of the schoolyear up to the end of the schoolyear, he was always hanging around this really hot Jewish chick.

At the end of the schoolyear, he showed me a letter from her.

The letter was basically... Her telling him that she is very sorry... and she had issues again with her parents. Because he is a black guy... and her parents hate non-jews especially negroes... Or something like that.

I like Jewish peeps... cept for the fvckers that run the American media.... IMO they are pretty much responsible for causing people to judged other based on stereotypes instead of real-life interactions. The Jewish girls I've met have been pretty cool, though sometimes very clannish... just like Asians.
