More tax payers money being wasted harassing law abiding citizens. Police need to focus on real criminals and not this crap.

Almost posted this when I saw the article. Let's just hope the judge is friendly towards them and throws this case out.

If i had money I would tip like Robert DeNiro in Goodfellas, but since I don't I avoid tipping and when I do it ain't much.

Tipping is illogical. Let's say you are an average joe making $12 an hour. Leaving a $1 tip for something THAT TAKES SECONDS is illogical. It takes what 20 seconds for waiters to go from the kitchen to your table to give you your food and you are paying them what takes you 5 minutes to make (60/12).

Someone will surely say "but they don't make a good hourly wage" f*** that ain't my problem!

Tipping is not illogical.
For two reasons:

1: It gives the server incentive to do good. You know, keep your drink filled, get your food out while its hot, etc...

If a server got paid the same regardless of what they did they could check on you once your whole meal and spend the rest of the time BSing in the kitchen.

2: Tipping keeps prices lower. You can say this isn't true but there is no way you can say that paying $8/hr versus 2$/hour doesn't affect the bottom line.

The fact that servers work for tips is built in to the pricing model.

If you don't want to tip then you shouldn't participate in the culture. That means stick to fast food or make it yourself.

The real reason you don't tip is that you're a cheap bast*rd.
This is your problem. That or the fact that you're only an average joe making $12/hr. If you make so little don't eat out in the first place.

I'm a pretty good tipper and can't believe how cheap some people can be. I saw a waitress get left chuckee cheese tokens last week. That kind of sh!t is stupid.

Another instance I was at Golden Corral which is a buffet style restaurant so I typically tip a buck or two if the waitress keeps my drink filled since that's all she has to do. but this time I had a great waitress on top of things and saw a family of about 5 screaming kids get up and leave the floor and table covered in food with no tip. I felt kind of bad for this woman so I left her a twenty.

If you can afford not to be a cheap b@stard and had decent service go ahead and leave something it can really make someone's night.

I've worked in the service industry several times. Mostly bartending which I will admit is worlds away from serving because I don't have to do all that much other then talk to people and make drinks (and here in nevada you have to keep track of peoples gambling play but that's rare for everyone else). Tipping isn't "mandatory" per say but don't be suprised if I'm aware you don't tip that I'm going to pay far less attention to you and do a lot more for some on who might only give me 10 percent of their check...which is usually about 3 dollars more.

I'm assuming after reading this article that they have an auto gratuity system in place at this restaurant. So after they reach a certain dollar amount it's automatically put on the check. I've never been a big fan of auto gratuity because it often means your server can walk away from your table early because they've already locked up your tip so why bother going the extra mile? Some places have auto gratuity based on the number of people in the party as well. Which I kind of agree with. If there's a group of 20 people, and your serving staff is known for excellence, then it's just more convenient to have a 15 percent gratuity added in from the start, again if the service is reputable. I'm leaning towards it being the prior of the two though and the servers were probably crap or under trained. "It was really busy that night" just doesn't cut it when it comes to restaurants. I busy day lasting for dinner service is no longer then 4 hours and if staffed correctly things don't get missed as the customers stated in the article. I also think the manager was lying about comping the meal as well. If the meal was free then why would he have called the police after they payed but left out the auto gratuity? That doesn't make any sense at all because essentially he got paid towards his bottom line and only staff money was lost. Bad service and bad management probably means the restaurant itself is garbage.
