Is this the reason why my back rounds during squats?

Stronglifts taught me to grip the bar as close to my shoulders as possible, this tightens my back but at the same time loosens my chest.

If i used a wider grip would my chest pop out more, making my form better?

Rippetoe says back rounding during squats is usually due to tight hamstrings.

Hmm, when you do the hamstring stretches do you keep your back straight/arched (I.E. not rounded)?

Stand with your feet shoulder width apart. Now bend down like your going to touch the floor, however do not round your back. Keep your back straight. Likely you won't get too far down cause of the tight hamstrings. However if you ad them into your stretching regime (and static stretching should be done after a workout) you'll loosen them up nicely over time.. which I think is a big factor in fixing my own rounding issue.

I'd recommend something like, 2-4 sets holding it 30 seconds to be done after each workout.

Do you also do supermans and squat stretches? If not I would recommend doing them too (as stronglifts suggests) as I have done them and can't discount their assistance toward getting my back to stop rounding.

Your huffing and puffing from stretching??

Relax, take a deep breathe, loosen up. And then start stretching. You shouldn't be getting tired from stretching, at least not out of breathe and huffing/puffing.

Also, I do a 10 min run before my workouts, helps to get my body going and to start the blood pumping to my muscles. Warms up the lube between the joints so everything goes smoother and you become more flexible.
You should try it, it might help you.
